Our dear friend and colleague, Bennet Silver, suffered devastating damage to his home in Florida after Hurricane Michael crossed over.
Bennet has been a fellow IASTE Local 44 member for decades and he and his wife, Nicole, run Silver Oaks Farm in Marianna, Florida. His crew back in LA wishes to extend as much support as possible during this time, because Bennet would immediately do the same for any of us.

On 33 acres, the damage has been extensive. They have lost many of the animal housings, their beautiful massive Oak trees have been uprooted, parts of their house need to be rebuilt, buildings that housed much of their farm equipment are gone, and now they need to start picking up the pieces of their lives.

WHERE FUNDS ARE GOING:
We are raising money to help with the cost of rebuilding their farm, as well as covering the costs of Bennet taking time away from his television job in LA, and the ongoing lack of income coming in from not having a running farm.

Update 1

I wanted to give you, my friends and family, a quick update.

We are strong and have had a few small victories. We have cleared our community roads, that were impassable just a few days ago, with the help of neighbors. The government has done an amazing job of clearing the main and offshoot roads as well. We cut a neibour out from there yard the day before, not sure exactly when time seem disjointed, so they could get out to check in on there elderly father in Panama City. People helping people. The deep water well is now wired into the generator and is pumping clean fresh water again. All of our animals seem to be doing just fine and are getting back to normal. Returned some freaked out wildlife to the forest since the were displaced from the storm. We purchased tarps yesterday to see what we could cover to prepare for the rain this weekend. Stores like Tractor Supply and Lows are open and selling there goods without computers or lights on. They send you into the store with a personal shopper and a flash light.

Thank you, for all of you kind wishes and support, it is truly humbling. We are strengthened by knowing we are not in this alone.

As things progress I will continue to update you all.
