Greers' Hurricane Harvey Recovery

$1,100 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 3 people in 5 months
Created September 1, 2017
Hurricane Harvey roared toward the Texas coast the last week of August.  Houston became ground-zero for flooding. As the storm made its way inland, rain continued to soak towns and cities from Brownsville up to Beaumont. Harvey made a second landfall on August 29 near the Texas- Louisiana border.
Early the next morning, the home of Stephen and Lisa Greer flooded. The Greer family live in Orange, Tex. Water began inching into the house at 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 30.
Stephen and Lisa stood by and watched water fill their neighborhood and creep into their house.
The family evacuated Orange on Thursday, Aug. 31, coming back to Lisa's hometown of Brewton, Ala. A mandatory evacuation was ordered just after the family packed what belongings would fit into their car and left.
At this time, the Greers do not know the extent of damage to their home. The nearby Sabine River continued to rise as they left. The Greers know they have lost all carpet, baseboards, and many of their belongings.
I am asking that you give what you can to help the Greers offset the expenses they'll have when they return to Orange. Lisa and I have been close friends since childhood and I want to do what I can to help. I ask that you consider doing so, too.
Lisa and Stephen are in Brewton with Gracie and Emrys until they're allowed to return to Orange. Please keep their family in your prayers.

In compliance with GoFundMe requirements, I'm including the following info:
Who you are and where you’re from? Juliette Adams of Brewton, Ala.
Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for? I am a close friend of Lisa Greer.
How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible)? Funds will be spent on a generator, cleaning supplies, building supplies to replace damaged baseboards, etc.
Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiary/ies? Ultimate beneficiary is set as the beneficiary on this page and is able to withdraw funds as needed.

From Lisa... Thank you for all the donations! It is so encouraging as we are in the demolition phase of the house and paying contractors for this (and doing what we can to save money in that process). We are hoping that part will be done by Friday afternoon and that drywall and maybe some trim will be going up next week. We are really trying to get the house acceptable enough for Emrys, my 4 year old, to come. Right now, he is staying with my parents.

From Lisa... Update: Stephen went to our house. The backyard is back to lake status, but so far, the water hasn't gone into the house again. The baseboards have expanded and are curling up. 75% of homes received flooding. 50% were severe...not sure how that is defined. Please pray for the relief efforts and workers. Thank you.

From Lisa...

As an International Paper employee and wastewater/environmental engineer at the Orange, Texas mill, Stephen will be returning to Orange tonight or very early tomorrow morning. The mill just had their power restored today, but Orange is not likely to have power until Wednesday or so. He has a generator, box fans, and will be adding repellent, water, and other supplies to work on our house and to help others. It's a blessing that he can get this stuff here. Please say a prayer for safety on his journey.
