Huntington, WV Overdose Life Savers

We are experiencing an unprecedented epidemic here in West Virginia as a whole.  Our state leads the nation in drug overdose deaths.  Tucked in the easternmost part of the state bordering both Kentucky and Ohio sits our town, Huntington, WV.  It is literally ground zero for the devastation that has befallen our wonderful state.  As I watch the local news everynight I see and feel the pain that is in the eyes of these victims and I can only ponder how long it will be until that person will be just a statistic.  This is a problem that cannot be solved by government lawmakers alone.  We need the proverbial "Boots on the Ground" here in Huntington!  The purpose of this fundraising is to jumpstart exactly that, BOOTS ON THE GROUND!!  We will have representatives that are shadowing the first responders to all overdose cases.  Upon reviving these victims with Narcan they are asked if they would like to go to the hospital.  None of them elect to go to the hospital so the first responders leave and the user is left to fend for his or her self.  This is where we step in!!  We will be there to make contact immediately while they are still feeling vulnerable from their near-death experience.  This will give us the ability to obtain contact and medical information so that we can begin looking for them a place where they can heal.  Showing them that somebody is there for them and fighting for them will be something never done before.  These people have names, families, children and the majority just need that helping hand to get their lives back on track!  This program will attempt to get the drug user to commit to a rehab facility option either inpatient or outpatient on the spot.  It is imperative that they are provided a safe haven from square one.  Our program aims to offer temporary housing until they are able to be processed into a legitimate drug rehabilitation center.  Nobody wants to live like this and all they need is someone to show them they are loved and that there is a reason to CHANGE.  The money here would provide the ability to SAVE LIVES.   Not only lives but these people are MOTHERS, FATHERS, DAUGHTERS and SONS.  These are REAL people that are having a REAL life or death problem.  If these people don't need the special attention and help then nobody does.  This is more important than any other issue going on in the nation at this time.  This has the potential to kill millions of innocent Americans here at home.  Let the police go after the dealers we are going after the victims.  We are going to save lives one person at a time.  By giving to this cause you will save lives also.
