Hunters Bone Marrow Transplant Recovery

Hunter has fought for his life most of the 24 years he has been alive. At 3 he was diagnosed with CVID....Common Variable Immune Deficiency  and since then he has had to have IVIG therapy every 4 weeks to fight off a bug that to most of the public our natural immune system fights off but for Hunter it would kill him without the constant IVIG therapy.  In Jan. 2018, Hunter had surgery to repair his shoulder which set off a chain of events in which Hunter was in and out of the hospital numerous times (over a dozen times)with an infection that became life threatening. His infection got so bad it collapsed his lung and he was forced to carry around a box that the infection drained into from a tube sticking out of his chest for several months. In fact it was looking extremely bad there for awhile till the amazing doctors at the University of Michigan hospital with the help of some drugs not FDA approved in this country saved his life. Also Hunter was also re-diagnosed with NEMO Deficiency, which is an extremely rare condition, and in doing so the doctors felt Hunter could be helped by a bone marrow transplant once he got strong enough to do. I, Deborah Downing,  was his bone marrow donator.....and now Hunter faces a long road ahead of him. He is on his 3rd week, day +14, and will be in the hospital for at least 5-7 more weeks. Because of his NEMO Deficiency  he is having a very tough time with his bone marrow transplant.  He has a very long tough road to climb but he continues to keep his sights set on the end goal. After that he faces weekly trips back and forth to the hospital,  unable to even think about working for a year after his transplant. We ask if you can help him in his fight for hopefully a new immune system that would give him something he has never ever had in his 24 years on this earth, a NORMAL LIFE!!
