Peace be with you! My name is William Baptiste SFO, "professor of human rights" and the Founder and Director of the new non-profit education organization Human Rights and Freedoms Forever!, which was officially launched on March 19, 2017 with my potentially historic speech on Canada's Parliament Hill, publicly unveiling for EVERY Western democracy The Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy and the Core Principles of Lasting Democracy, identified from undisputed historical and scientific facts connected with clear, sound logic which make it easy for anyone to learn just where our human rights and freedoms come from and just what they need to last long-term.  Widespread uneducated ignorance of these principles among both politicians and voters has resulted in today's current worldwide trend of "Creeping Totalitarianism," and to save Democracy my speech called for the constitutional enshrinement of these TRADITIONAL Western principles in all of today's compromised democracies (the principles are stated below, with a link to a video of the historic speech!).

Pre-History of Human Rights and Freedoms Forever!

Early in 2015, complications from ongoing difficulties from being a seriously under-funded doctoral student, and from an automobile accident involving my whole family of 8, finally made me withdraw from my Ph.D. studies, after successfully completing Ph.D. Comprehensive Final Exams (and rough-drafting a doctoral thesis) but before doing the doctoral dissertation. I believe this was Providential, because if I had been able to complete my doctorate, I would have had no time to think about anything else but my Ph.D. thesis for years, and would thus have been unable to respond in educational writing to 4 attacks in 2015 on democracy, religious freedom, and human lives and human rights where I live (symptomatic of similar current attacks all over our Western democracies), which began about the same time as I had to withdraw from my doctorate (these are described in my article ‘Creeping Totalitarianism’ No Longer Just ‘Creeping:’ 4 Major Assaults on Democracy in 2015 Alone Where Author Lives ).

Because I am a scholar – and one who while a doctoral student had been professor of a university course approximately covering the First Millennium (precisely 107 to 1014 AD), during which period the critical changes in Western Civilization happened that turned it from brutal to humane and laid the groundwork for all later human rights and democratic freedoms proceeding slowly but logically from key principles the West adopted (from Christianity) in the 4th Century – my educated “broad perspective” on Western Civilization’s entire history (familiar with primary historical documents) made it extremely obvious that current worldwide Western trends of “Creeping Totalitarianism” driving (and driven by) the massive social and legal changes to the TRADITIONAL Western values human rights and freedoms were built on and need to last are only logical and completely to be expected BECAUSE THE WEST in IGNORANCE of the history and logic undergirding modern human rights and freedoms has ABANDONED the TRADITIONAL Western principles on which THE WHOLE STRUCTURE OF MODERN DEMOCRACY DEPENDS. When one knows in depth just what values guided brutal Western Civilization before the 4th Century, and the key changes and historical process since then which gradually but logically gave us modern human rights and modern democracy, it is easy to see that the West is currently slowly returning (regressing) BOTH to the societal values and practices (especially concerning human life) AND the typically totalitarian (total-control; belief-control) style of government which was NORMAL before the 4th Century.

EDUCATION is always the antidote to IGNORANCE. The educational resources I have developed but not yet polished and published (and am still developing in consultation with other scholars as I informally become more and more a "professor of human rights") identify 3 wrong turns on Western Civilization’s path which have brought the West to seriously compromise genuine human rights (which today like in U.S. slavery, Nazi Germany and in any totalitarian State are not recognized in ALL humans) and to seriously compromise religious freedom and democracy itself which depends on every human life without exception being recognized as so EQUAL and so PRECIOUS that EVERY human not only should be protected from harm, but deserves a democratic say or vote in his or her own governance. My educational materials identify from the lessons of history the BAD NEWS and GOOD NEWS about what is happening to the West – the BAD NEWS of just how much closer to formally losing democracy many Western democracies today are than most realize (cut from democracy’s foundations we are well on the way to becoming “DINOs” – “Democracies In Name Only”), but also the GOOD NEWS of just what human-life-and-freedom-lovers can DO about it, based on a PROVEN strategy of what has worked before. When genuine human rights and genuine democracy were previously compromised by the legal Slave Trade, the dedicated Abolitionists in Britain who without compromise believed in the supreme and EQUAL value of every human life without exception (which the West first adopted from Christianity in the 4th Century), slowly but steadily EDUCATED the electorate in this key principle which is in fact foundational to democracy, until they eventually achieved the “critical mass” of EDUCATED citizens needed to convince their government to end legal slavery in the British Empire. I have identified the vital key principles historically and logically undergirding all modern human rights and freedoms – and the ONLY principles which can GUARANTEE human rights and democratic freedoms last forever, and I have described them in the first 5 (of the 28) Articles of the current draft of The Pledge of Allegiance to Democracy , which are reproduced here:

1. I pledge allegiance to Democracy, and to the implicit foundational principles on which Democracy is historically and logically built and which it needs to explicitly restore in order to survive currently escalating 21st Century worldwide trends of “Creeping Totalitarianism” and last long-term (which are The First Principles of Democracy or The Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy):

2. Foundational Principle of Human Rights and Democracy #1: That every human life without exception, without discrimination and “without distinction of any kind” is SUPREMELY and EQUALLY valuable and precious, OBLIGATING governments to protect and serve ALL precious humans who have "inherent . . . equal and inalienable [human] rights" (which is the only reason governments stopped exploiting, enslaving and killing humans and eventually started giving every human a say or democratic vote or say in his or her own governance in the first place) [note the quoted phrases are from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights]; and

3. Because of this intrinsic human preciousness each human without exception has Human Rights beginning with the Inherent Human Right to Live, the necessary foundation of all other Human Rights without which “Human Rights” is a meaningless term, and

4. This means killing humans is intrinsically wrong and thus no government has legitimate authority to kill either its own or another government’s human citizens, nor to legally allow human lives wherever they are to be killed for any reason except in extreme cases when necessary in the defense and protection of always-precious human lives from criminals or aggressors (see Article 6).No government has legitimate authority to legally devalue any human lives it exerts power over, which always precedes grave injustice and the compromise or loss of Democracy, as happens whenever some humans are legally denied human personhood or full citizenship so they may be legally enslaved or legally killed or otherwise legally denied the full equal Human Rights which logically must intrinsically inhere in every human life or else they intrinsically inhere in no human life (in which case there would be no inherent superiority of free democracy over oppressive totalitarianism which does not recognize nor respect Human Rights). Thus, I recognize the CORE PRINCIPLE OF LASTING DEMOCRACY #1: Lasting Democracy requires full and uncompromising legal recognition of The Inherent Human Right to Live and the traditional Western belief expressed in the simple maxim killing humans is wrong, because Human Rights are for All Humans or else they are meaningless (if being human is not enough to have them).

5. Foundational Principle of Human Rights and Democracy #2:(Following logically from Principle #1): That because every human life without exception is precious every human life without exception must be FREE from all government coercion in matters of belief so that they may without impediment FREELY seek and find this wonderful Truth foundational to Democracy, that their human lives are supremely and equally valuable and precious (without government interference; without government telling or teaching the humans governed any differently; and without government treating humans any differently, in violation of their Human Rights).These two principles together are the implicit underlying First Principles or logical starting point of both Human Rights and Democracy as we know it (As described in PLEDGE PART II below, the essence of these here-maturely-articulated principles was adopted by the West in the 4^th Century when the Inherent Human Right to Live was first legally protected by the government; these principles slowly but logically developed over the centuries into modern Human Rights and were at least implicitly assumed at the formation of all of our modern democracies).

. . . Articles 6 and 7 of the Pledge contain a more lengthy discussion of two further Core Principles of Lasting Democracy, which are given in their simplicity here:

CORE PRINCIPLE OF LASTING DEMOCRACY #2: Lasting Democracy does not grant unqualified freedom to individual humans, but Lasting Democracy restricts individual freedom with just criminal laws which uphold the Inherent Human Right to Live and the maxim killing humans is wrong; laws which protect the Human Rights and property of other humans and encourage mature respect for all humanity which ensures that humans are always treated as precious persons not as mere tools or objects to be used or thrown away. For lasting world peace nation-States also need to be guided by just International Laws which similarly uphold the Inherent Human Right to Live, Human Rights for All Humans and the maxim killing humans is wrong.

CORE PRINCIPLE OF LASTING DEMOCRACY #3: Lasting Democracy does not grant an unqualified “anything the majority asks for or accepts,” but Lasting Democracy MUST hold its citizens and its politicians constitutionally accountable to the Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy including the Inherent Human Right to Live and the maxim killing humans is wrong because Human Rights are for All Humans, or else genuine Democracy can easily be lost to “Creeping Totalitarianism” wherein democracies (in name only, as in 1930s Germany) gradually but increasingly take on the characteristics of totalitarian States (all of which deny killing humans is wrong and all of which think the government decides which humans may or may not be legally killed instead of recognizing lasting democratic government’s foundation that governments are obligated to always protect and serve always-precious human lives because Human Rights are for All Humans).

These principles make clear that “Democracy Pledgers” can be distinguished from “Totalitarian Creeps” according to their understanding of the value of human life. The understanding of human life of “Democracy Pledgers” is ultimately oriented towards lasting Democracy, because they understand that governments are always OBLIGATED to protect and serve human lives which are always EQUAL and PRECIOUS – human equality being the foundation of Democracy. The understanding of human life of “Totalitarian Creeps” is ultimately (if unwittingly) oriented towards Totalitarianism, because they believe governments decide just which human lives are protected by laws and just which human lives can be legally killed, like in every Totalitarian State. Educated “Democracy Pledgers” (or potential “Democracy Pledgers” who without this education already implicitly believe in the traditional Western values explicitly articulated in the Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy) can be easily distinguished from uneducated “Totalitarian Creeps” by their answer to these questions: Where do you stand on the current Human Rights for All Humans debate? Do you believe in equal Human Rights for All Humans, or do you believe Human Rights can and should be denied to some humans? That is, are you “Pro-Human-Right-to-Live” or “Pro-Choice-to-Kill-Humans” ?

I first publicly introduced these new questions which forever redefine the abortion debate as a matter of human rights and lasting democracy, along with introducing the above Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy and the Core Principles of Lasting Democracy, which are the ONLY principles that can GUARANTEE lasting democracy and human rights, at the official launch of Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! on March 19, 2017 on Canada's Parliament Hill (but they apply to EVERY Western democracy which has been compromised by de-criminalized abortion which legally eradicates Democracy's foundation in the Inherent Human Right to Live).  The historic speech can be viewed at this link:

As “Creeping Totalitarianism” progresses at the expense of genuine democracy, doctors (and other medical professionals) where I live (and in many jurisdictions) have been forced to give up their democratic freedom of conscience and free speech to object to killing humans (in violation of the 2500 year Hippocratic Medical Tradition that doctors do not kill patients), but MUST participate at least by “effective referral” in human-killing procedures against their conscience or else they can lose their jobs. This is a gross violation of democracy (which only became possible after Western governments started recognizing and protecting ALL human life as precious), that you can now LOSE YOUR JOB if you refuse to be party to killing humans; and it is a gross violation of the medical field itself which for over 2 millennia could be trusted by humans because doctors took an oath not to kill humans. Where I live (and other jurisdictions) also now have totalitarian-style belief-control in the forced indoctrination of schoolchildren against parents’ wishes in anti-traditional values (forcefully imposed by the government WITHOUT ANY DEMOCRATIC MANDATE and against wide and loud parental objections), anti-traditional values which violate the above Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy because they actually create a DEMAND for the human-killing procedures which eradicate any legal recognition of the Inherent Human Right to Live which is the foundation of democracy. It is a very disturbing lesson of history that the closest historical parallel to where I live in 2015 is Mexico in 1917, which at that time similarly passed laws/policies restricting the religious freedom of some citizens; similarly instituted government-controlled “education” of schoolchildren in anti-traditional values; and similarly had a large number of citizens very uncomfortable with all this but there was no uproar right away because the new policies were not strictly enforced AT FIRST and most people’s day-to-day lives did not change much AT FIRST. But 9 years later, these policies which had been “on the books” almost a decade started to be strictly enforced, soon backed up by even worse policies, and so WITHIN A DECADE all semblance of religious freedom disappeared and the open violent persecution of Christians – who introduced the West to the above Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy – began in 1926. ONLY IGNORANCE OF HISTORY WOULD MAKE ANYONE THINK THIS COULDN’T HAPPEN AGAIN. ONLY EDUCATION IN THE HISTORICAL AND LOGICAL FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND DEMOCRACY CAN MAKE SURE IT DOESN’T. Not all national/ provincial/ state etc jurisdictions in the West are yet as bad as where I live (and some are worse in some ways), but all are undergoing ‘Creeping Totalitarianism” in different ways at different rates because in IGNORANCE the West has abandoned the Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy. Only a solid EDUCATION can counter this democracy-destroying ignorance.

HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS FOREVER! PROVIDES “THE EDUCATION NECESSARY TO PRESERVE DEMOCRACY NOW UNDER ATTACK” and "THE ANTIDOTE TO ANY DEGREE OF 'CREEPING TOTALITARIANISM'"

My new non-profit educational organization Human Rights and Freedoms Forever!  has developed, and is continuing to develop (in consultation with other scholars), a range of educational resources for teaching Westerners just where their human rights and freedoms come from and what they need to last; resources which impart a whole mindset or way of thinking about human rights and democratic freedoms from their historical and logical First Principles, so that, once enough educated citizens think this way, continuation of the current “Creeping Totalitarianism” (rooted in ignorance) which is currently undermining our democracies will become unthinkable for future generations. Although these resources still need to be professionally edited and formally published, their vitally important educational content is already “conceptually complete,” teaching exactly where and how Western Civilization got its human rights and freedoms; exactly where it started to lose them (the “3 wrong turns”); and exactly what we can do about this that has the best chance (based on the proven strategy used to peacefully end British legal slavery) of reversing the current trends of ‘Creeping Totalitarianism’ and securing Western human rights and democratic freedoms for the long-term. One philosophy professor (from Franciscan University of Steubenville) who reviewed the 2nd Draft of The Education Necessary to Preserve Democracy Now Under Attack wrote “I love the content of the book and especially your writing style. The individual sentence construction flows easily and is readily understandable. The Flag of Democracy



This is “The Flag of Democracy” (1st Edition) designed by myself and beautifully realized by artist and poet Nicolas Carnogursky. Incorporating the Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy, which appear right on the Flag, the Flag of Democracy is the symbol of the worldwide grassroots movement of The Pledge of Allegiance to Democracy taken and stood up for in Solidarity against current worldwide trends of “Creeping Totalitarianism” which Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! has now begun (and invites YOU AND YOUR FREEDOM-LOVING FRIENDS to participate in). YOUR PATRONAGE WILL ENABLE THE PRODUCTION of a higher-resolution “2nd Edition” Flag of Democracy with nicer lettering to make beautiful full-size flags human-life-and-freedom-lovers worldwide can literally rally behind as they work to convince their compromised democracies to constitutionally enshrine the traditional Western principles human rights and democratic freedoms were historically and logically built on and which are the only principles that will allow Human Rights and Democracy to last for the long-term. Anywhere flags are raised and democracy is valued, the Flag of Democracy can be proudly raised underneath or alongside national flags in the hopes that that nation will take the steps necessary to ensure it stays a democracy forever.

The decay of so many of our Western democracies descending into ‘Creeping Totalitarianism’ is so far advanced that it will very probably be my LIFE’S WORK to direct Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! until democracy, religious freedom, human rights and human lives are safe for the long-term because an EDUCATED electorate of grassroots citizens in most compromised democracies finally convince their governments to constitutionally enshrine the above (here-maturely-articulated but historic) Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy, governments which then solidly know the SOURCE of human rights and democratic freedoms then ensuring their citizens are EDUCATED in them so IGNORANCE of them never again threatens lasting democracy and human rights as they are threatened right now. Not only do the above-listed educational and promotional materials (and the Flag of Democracy) need to be professionally finished and published/printed/produced; once they are, they will need to be distributed worldwide, and translated into different languages needed wherever democracy has been compromised by ‘Creeping Totalitarianism.’ I am also developing an academic course on this important content, and eventually video teaching resources should be made (I have already started some audiobook recordings). So the ultimate “goal” of this non-profit educational organization Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! will not be reached until the necessary “critical mass” of educated citizens has been reached (in each compromised democracy) to ensure human rights and freedoms last long-term on their firm TRADITIONAL foundations.

FUND-RAISING GOAL

Thus what is needed as far as fund-raising for lasting democracy goes is (in addition to one-time donors) to have enough regular monthly patrons to keep Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! operating on a monthly basis to protect YOUR family's long-term human rights and democratic freedoms for generations to come.  The money will be used for anything necessary for Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! to operate effectively, such as workspace and office supplies and all materials or services needed to develop the professionally published and printed educational and promotional materials mentioned above (including further research materials used in the continued development of our educational resources); telecommunications (phone and Internet); transportation to presentations, events and meetings with potential participants (and “Democracy Pledgers”), Volunteer Democracy Leaders, partner organizations and donors (partner organizations are important because Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! needs to network with many excellent existing organizations which are already fighting various battles to protect human life and religious freedom; we need to share with them the complete “education necessary to preserve democracy now under attack” and the "Winning Strategy for ‘The Culture of Life’ to WIN the ‘Cultural War’ with ‘The Culture of Death,’ to Save Humanity Forever from ‘Creeping Totalitarianism’ ” – so that they can continue to fight their battles with a mind to winning the war for the long-term; so that more than just trying to hold back the latest attacks, they can help work to actually STOP the current continual barrage of ever-new attacks on the TRADITIONAL values lasting human rights and freedoms depend on, by EDUCATING the electorate in the (traditional) Foundational Principles of Human Rights and Democracy. 1) people from the grassroots up reading, taking, and spreading the Pledge as “Democracy Pledgers” (those less bold with strangers at least spreading it to friends and family so the "education necessary to preserve democracy" spreads);

2) people who want to do more becoming “Volunteer Democracy Leaders” in their city, spreading promotional materials and/or setting up “Lasting Democracy Study Nights,” gatherings of people reading and discussing the current draft (eventually the final published version my patrons help me create!) of the Pledge and the longer treatise, for a firmly established and CONFIDENT EDUCATION to preserve human life, human rights and democratic freedoms;

3) Setting up educational Celebrate Human Life! Centers in every city in every country, as described in detail on the website (at this link). [This 3rd stage will take large amounts of special donations and regular patronage, and will be the subject of future fund-raising campaigns after the monthly operating costs of Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! are consistently taken care of]

MIGHT YOUR RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION OR CHURCH WANT TO INVEST IN ITS LONG-TERM RELIGIOUS FREEDOM BY SUPPORTING HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS FOREVER! ?

One does not have to be Christian to want human rights and freedoms to last for everybody, nor to believe in THE TRADITIONAL WESTERN VALUES WHICH INCLUDE THE FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND DEMOCRACY (which Christianity introduced into Western Civilization), and thus The Pledge of Allegiance to Democracy has been written so that non-Christians as well as Christians can be comfortable “taking the Pledge” to help make sure human rights and democratic freedoms for EVERYBODY – non-Christian as well as Christian – last long-term. But since very many of those who are right now very uncomfortable with the current trends of “Creeping Totalitarianism” undermining democracy and compromising religious freedom are in fact Christians, Christian Church communities of all denominations should be interested in protecting their religious freedom for the long-term, and should consider it worthwhile to INVEST in their long-term religious freedom by supporting Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! (through both prayer and regular donations/patronage here on Patreon). Thus I ask those who read this campaign who are Christians to not only consider donating to Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! on a one-time or regular basis themselves, but also please consider letting your Church community know about Human Rights and Freedoms Forever!, and how it is working to protect THEIR religious freedom from all the current attacks and for the long-term, so that these church communities can consider becoming one-time or regular supporters of Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! The first 40 church communities who commit to pray for and financially support Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! for at least $50 a month (FOUNDATION-LEVEL Patronage) will go on an official list of the “40-Church Foundation” of Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! (your Church can contact me about becoming part of the "40-Church Foundation" or about a lesser level of involvement in spreading this democracy-and-religious-freedom-saving education by emailing me at [email redacted] (subject line: Donations for Democracy).  This important education affecting the entire future of the West as either a free or oppressive place both for Christians and for humans needs 40 Churches which will commit to pray for Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! to be successful in defending human life, religious freedom, and democracy itself for the long-term, and which will commit to support Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! financially in an amount of at least $50/month, which will allow Human Rights and Freedoms Forever! to operate indefinitely at its current rate of growth and development of this important education with such far-reaching consequences for Christians (and humans) all over the world.
