Support Blazek's Journey with ALS
Donation protected
As many of you know, our friend Joe Blazek of Lititz was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 2012.
While Joe and his family continue to battle the circumstances of ALS, there are always needs to be met, which can be difficult both physically and financially. For the Blazek family, facing the future living with ALS is different than having no hope for the future. They live each day to the fullest and try not to let ALS take that from them. Their spirit, faith, support from their church, LCBC of Mount Joy, and Joe’s stubbornness won’t let the physical limitations keep them from doing what they want to do…be a family and advocate for ALS.
If you would ask Joe what will help him and his family the most, his answer would be “mobility.” 90% of his day is spent in bed or sitting in a chair. His favorite thing to do is ride his wheelchair up and down the street. He says his neighbors probably think he’s crazy, but to him, it’s freedom, much of which we take for granted.
He’s tired of watching his family drive off without him. Being unable to go to the boys’ sporting events, or to take Michelle on a date, and having to turn down outings with family and friends because it’s too difficult for him to get to/from places is very disheartening.
The Blazeks are in need of a handicapped-accessible van. As friends who support the Blazek family, we’re determined to get the Blazeks a ride!
If you would like to contribute to the vehicle that will grant Joe increased mobility and freedom, please donate!
Our goal is to raise $75,000.00.
Stay tuned for additional fundraisers to help support Joe Blazek and his family.
Any financial help you may be able to provide is GREATLY APPRECIATED!
With our thanks,
Friends of the Blazeks : )
