Tonya Wilde's Journey of Pain

Donation protected
Tonya came into my life over 5 years ago, I never knew the extent of suffering that someone who lives with Chronic Pain could endure. Her battle began in March of 2010 after abdominal reconstruction surgery. She woke up from anesthesia screaming from unbearable pain. She begged to be put into a coma or to die, and she hasn't been out of pain since.

Over the past 5 years, I witnessed her struggle not only with pain, but the challenge of dealing with rejection from the medical world refusing to treat her with dignity. She is continually refused local treatment by doctors and ER's who fear liability issues from the overwhelming health issues she faces.

The only place she has consistent care is with the Mayo Clinic. Since January of 2018 she has been trying to pass 5 kidney stones larger than 5mm's, lodged in her ureter. On a pain scale of l to 10, I would say she is a 15, her pain is excrutiating and constant.

On her last visit to Mayo, she brought her Pain Management Physician with her who was able to speak to her Urology Team. Finally, someone was able to convey the dire need she had for surgery to get these stones removed. Prior to this, even Mayo had refused surgery as she has lost most of her intestines from the prior surgery.
Her body will keep making these stones and nothing can be done for her. Her liver and kidneys are so damaged that her prognosis is terminal.

In order to have this surgery she had to be weaned off of all pain meds. They had to deal with the chemical imbalance she was enduring causing depression and find something that her body wouldn't react to because she has so many allergies and drug sensitivities.

She has been at Mayo since May 8th and finally had surgery on June 7th, but they were only able to remove 3 of the stones. Tonya is still at Mayo, staying at a local hotel receiving outpatient treatment.
She has a stint tube in her kidney that needs to be removed and follow up surgeries scheduled for this and the remaining stones in
July and August.

This trip alone has cost over $7,000 in uncovered back and forth expenses for airfares, hotel and food. Tonya lives alone and survives on her VA pension to pay her at home expenses.

The pain and suffering for the last 8 years has put a tremendous financial burden on her. At this point, she has maxed out her credit card limit of $10,000. She needs consistent monitoring and can't afford to keep flying back and forth along with other uncovered incidentals not picked up by her insurance.

Trying to "condense" Tonya's story into a few paragraphs is the biggest challenge I have ever faced. There is so much more to her story.
She faces unbelievable health challenges that can't be resolved. She is physically, mentally, financially and emotionally drained and is in need of help. She has never asked anyone for help, and I'm hoping this fundraiser could at least help ease her burdens financially.

Tonya has one daughter who will be getting married in October. She has no family in the area, loves the Lord and in spite of her consistent
pain has tried to serve as a children's teacher in our local CBS Ministry.
Her hope and faith in the Lord sustain her and her prayer is that she will be able to travel to Nashville to be at her daughters wedding.

If you're willing to help Tonya, any financial contribution you could make would be greatly appreciated along with your prayers for her strength.

Please, SHARE this page with friends, it could help made a huge difference in her life and help bring light into a dark situation that I can only imagine.

I am Trish Roman, a friend of Tonya's and I'm trying to help ease some of the financial burdens she is carrying.
