Deliverance from Devic's

Donation protected
My name is Audrey Freeman (formerly Audrey Mitchell from Chicago, IL) and I lived a vibrant and healthy life for 37 years.  I graduated from Florida A&M University (FAMU) with a degree in accounting, received my MBA from Keller Graduate School and later received credentials as a Project Management Professional (PMP) .  Working as an IT project manager, enjoying family, eating healthy, exercising, donating my time and resources to help others and attending church weekly was my normal routine.   I met a wonderful man and we married after dating for over 3 years.  That was 2006 and that is when I began to get ill.  Doctor visits, CT scans, MRIs, and a lot of testing led to a mis-diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2007.  In 2009 the Mayo Clinic confirmed that I had Devic's (aka Neuromyelitis Optica [NMO]), thanks to a neurologist at Emory University going the extra mile.  Devic's is a rare autoimmune diesease that attacks the optic nerves and the cervical spine.  As a result, I now cannot walk and I cannot see.  I deal with nerve pain daily, some days better than others.  Neurologists tell me there is no real treatment nor cure for Devic's, but I believe I can recover by God's grace!  There have been some hills and some valleys but through it all, I remain optimistic.  I am so thankful for my family, a wonderful husband and my mom who set this site up for me because I could not.

My husband is a wonder. He has chosen to continue to love me, honoring his vows “for better or for worse, in sickness and in health.”  Each morning he gets me up, helps me bathe and get dressed, and makes my meals, while maintaining a full-time job. Every evening he puts me into bed.  He cooks and cleans, does the laundry and shopping.  He has even learned how to style my hair!  We have a hoyer lift that he uses to move me from the bed to my wheelchair.  Through it all I am still very thankful that I am able to use my upper body and can assist in some ways.  I am unable to take a shower or get into the bathtub in our New Orleans apartment, but I have a wonderful time in the shower when we visit my mother in Decatur, GA.    She actually demolished a part of her shower in order to make it accessible.  Our van is not as reliable as it once was and the 7 hour trip can be fatiguing, so-o-o I don't get a shower often.

We pay for limited caregiver services during the week, and have several wonderful volunteers that check on me and help me during the day. My mother gives my husband breaks as she is able, but I would prefer being able to help her in her senior years rather than have her help me.

I would like to ask you to help deliver me from this debilitating disease because I believe it is possible!  I was told that there have been cases where people recovered and were able to live more normally.

I desire to be an excellent wife to my husband, possibly experience motherhood, live a productive life and again be able to help other people. I would like to have the chance but cannot afford it.
Our finances have been strained by medical bills, caregiver services, medication and let me not forget - my husband’s student loans.

Will you help deliver me from Devic's by assisting with the cost to be treated at the  Uchee Pines Lifestyle Center , please?
Uchee Pines has licensed physicians and other trained medical staff that provide alternative approaches to healing.  Uchee Pines is willing to take me as a patient but I cannot go alone.  My husband will need to accompany me and help in the healing process. His medical insurance will not cover the treatments that Uchee Pines offers.

Check-out Uchee Pines' site and I hope you too will be optimistic about my recovery. With God all things are possible!   I want to say thank you in advance to all who contribute.  No gift is too small and all gifts will be greatly appreciated.  All funds will be used to help with my deliverance from Devic's.

Sincerely,

Audrey
