Dear Alums and Friends,
The events of Hurricane Harvey over the past several days in Houston, TX, have been extremely devastating. Our prayers and hearts go out to anyone that has been impacted by the results of Hurricane Harvey.
Within the Houston Chapter, we are aware of 3 Alums so far that has been impacted, some more severe than others losing everything - homes, cars, valuables, memories, etc…. We know that the road will be difficult, but our GOD is more than enough, and HE will sustain and provide for us throughout this process. So yes, we may be in an emotional state right now, but each day GOD will turn our tears into JOY. We just have to remain strong, trust GOD and “Fully Rely On GOD (FROG), and know that he has already worked it out on our behalf. The end result is already fixed; we just have to continue to walk through the process to get to it. We will not give up because our GOD will never give up on us, and he will never leave us, nor will He fail us!
This morning we hosted a chapter prayer conference call, and to hear the stories of the experience of what people are going through, our hearts and I know your hearts aches, but it requires action. Many of you have reached out and expressed your acts of concerns and have been praying for our city, our community and our chapter. Our local alums are ready and willing to assist, but it will take a village - Together we are STRONGER and together we can make a Greater impact to help those that are in need. Therefore, we established a Houston Alumni Relief Fund, specific to helping those individuals that has been impacted by the Hurricane. My request of each of you reading this is to ask GOD what amount you should give, then move into action to give. We've all been blessed to a blessing to someone, but especially during this time of great need. We need you and we appreciate you! Please continue to lift us up in prayer!
For Go Fund Requirement Purposes:
- Hosea R. James - Houston, TX
- President, Tougaloo College Houston Area Alumni Chapter
- I/We are raising money for local Alumni within our chapter that has been impacted by the storms
- All monies raised will be provided to Alums for items that they need - clothes, toiletries, food, home/car repairs, shelter, rental car expense, etc....
- Marvin Love, Chapter Treasurer will be the beneficiary responsible for withdrawing the money from the Go Fund Me account
