House Fire Recovery for Yvette

The day before her 22nd birthday the home that Yvette and her class/roomates shared near campus burned...

Thankfully the fire erupted during the day when all were gone and not in the middle of the night when everyone was sleeping...

Yvette lost everything except the clothes she was wearing that morning and a few things in her car...

Her beloved little gecko pet Miso survived the event and was rescued by firefighters. He has been taken in by a local veterinary clinic for treatment and observation for two weeks and looks like he’ll be ok!

But Yvette suffered a major loss of her modest assets... professional work clothing just bought for her internship and new job, bedding, electronics, school related supplies, kitchen equipment, food, toiletries, luggage, mattress, furniture... a place to live to finish her senior and grad school years...

She has temporary housing in a dorm room and Brandeis has donated some toiletries and underwear and pajamas, t-shirts, sweats, and meals in the commissary...Thank you Brandeis!

We are trying to raise enough money to help her get back on her feet as quickly as possible, and to ease the stress of the situation...

Now that the first week of recovery, shelter, food, mental health and reorientation after this tragic fire has elapsed - both the short and long term economic consequences are beginning to manifest themselves...
