House fire from lighting

My name is Brian Gardiner and this is what befell my wife's grandparents, aunt and uncles during the storm this weekend:

Saturday morning during the severe thunderstorm in Chisolm, lightning struck the back side of the house & roof. The fire spread very quickly. Smoke detectors sounding, dogs barking and the chaos of being woken from sleep by the noise and smoke, the family scrambled in their sleepwear to gather what pets they could find and whatever they could grab for themselves but there was no time. The fire moved through the house quickly, yet one person ran back in to the burning building for one last attempt to save pets but she got trapped in the basement. She managed to get herself partially out of a window at head height when she was pulled the rest of the way through. She suffered scrapes and bruises and a broken ankle but she did not loose her life. Sadly however, four small dogs and a cat were unaccounted for when the entire house was completely consumed by the fire. They did manage to save three dogs and the horses on the property, though spooked, were unharmed. Within a panicked and very fast moving hour the family lost all their memories and belongings, loved pets and their home and almost their lives. Neighbors and family helped all they could through the weekend giving clothes, shoes, money and temporary accomodation. Let's see what we can raise to help them cope with this tragedy.
