Cat Sims, founder of popular parenting blog, Not So Smug Now, presents

Suffering from depression since she was 27, including post-natal depression following the birth of her first child, Cat Sims has launched HOT FOR MENTAL HEALTH - a campaign that will work to raise awareness of mental health issues around motherhood and pregnancy, work to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health issues, spread the word regarding the huge benefits of hot yoga both mentally and physically and raise a significant amount of money for London-based charity, Cocoon Family Support.

On April 26th 2018, Cat will complete five hot yoga sessions in one day between the hours of 6.15am and 9.30pm. Along the way, she will be joined by some her friends from the world of social media, sport, music and TV. With a 15 weeks training period ahead of her, Cat will be using all her time and energy to raise as much money for Cocoon Family Support. She will be writing about and documenting her journey on her blog and her social media platforms (@notsosmugnow)

Sponsored and supported (thank goodness!) by the wonderful team at Hot Yoga House in Eastcote, Harrow, Cat will be working hard to get ready for the challenge. Amy Partridge and Leanne Weston, founders of Hot Yoga House, have said, “We are so happy to support Cat in her amazing challenge. We
are passionate about hot yoga and all it can do to help people physically and mentally and we can’t wait to share this with more people.”
Cat says, “I’m not going to lie - I’m terrified about the prospect of five hot yoga sessions in one day! Right now I can just about get through one but it’s so important to me that we throw back the curtain when it comes to mental health and start to talk openly and honestly about it. There is nothing shameful about suffering from depression and that’s what I want this event to be about.”

Cocoon Family Support is a London-based charity that works to support mothers and families affected by mental health issues and post-natal depression. Rosie Lowman, Chief Executive, explains why the charity exists 'Started by mums for mums and families, we provide a safe and understanding space for those experiencing difficult emotions and mental conditions before and after birth.'  Cocoon Family Support offers peer support groups, walking groups, creative therapy, counselling and information to those affected.  Cocoon is reliant on donations to continue it's vital work.
