Hoping for "Time" Helping Alan Fight Glioblastoma

Donation protected
On February 22nd, 2019 my father Alan White was diagnosed with Stage IV Glioblastoma; he had been losing some weight and was tired for several months before this, so he sought medical help. Brain cancer was the last thing we expected to be the cause of his symptoms. Since then he has undergone two brain surgeries; one, a biopsy to find out what the mass in his brain really was, and the second to remove as much of the tumor as was medically safe.
Dad (Alan), a corrections officer and military veteran who served in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Enduring Freedom, is now in a race against cancer to buy more "time" with my mother Karry, my siblings Nick(Katherine), Cassie and I. We as a family, or Team White as I like to call us, are most often the ones others turn to in times of trouble. Mom and Dad are usually the first people to hit the road and drive the six hours south to their "hometown" when a relative is sick. During many of his trips with Mom, they spend a great deal of what she likes to call "windshield time" talking about everything while they are on the road. Since his diagnosis, those conversations have gotten much harder, even if the trips are a bit shorter.
As a family, we are trying to take things one day at a time and to make each minute in the day count. Our goal is to spend our "time" wisely, as it is a special gift; in the near future, though much of it will be taken up by his treatment plan. He will start radiation and chemotherapy on April 24th, 2019. The treatment plan he was given by his doctors involves trips to Essentia/St. Mary's in Duluth, MN five days a week for six weeks to start with.
Duluth and life-prolonging treatment for us is an hour north of our home; which means commuting miles a day north for treatment and miles a day south to return home for us. Costs for both treatment and transportation will be expensive. It is our hope that willing people like yourself will help and continue to help Alan and us deal with the large expense coming our way.
