I'm writing this campaign to try to save the life of my daughter Natasha Joy Snowdon who is dying of late stage chronic Lyme disease. For the past 11 years, Natasha's body has been ravaged by Lyme disease and multiple coinfections, which are basically a community of intelligent parasites, bacteria and viruses.
It is generally contracted in insect bites, most often ticks. In Natasha's case it is believed she was infected by a tick bite she had in 2005, had it removed from her back in the hospital, was given Benadryl for the rash that had spread, and sent home. From that day, she became very ill with flu like symptoms followed by countless others that would continue to worsen and steal her life. I'll talk more about that, but first let me explain the issue with this disease here in this country. ( as well as many others right now, around the globe)Currently in Canada, there is very little education on Lyme disease, and chronic late stage Lyme is not recognized. Early detection and diagnosis/treatment is key in killing the infection, otherwise within weeks, the corkscrew shapped spirochete burrows deep within a person's tissues- muscles, brain, kidneys, liver, spleen, heart, etc and mimics ones' DNA which makes the Elisa test ( the "gold standard" test in Canada for Lyme disease ) unable to detect infection after 6 weeks.

Recent studies have linked intra-cellular bacteria such as Lyme and its co-infections left untreated to diseases such as
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic Fatigue
- Parkinsons
- ALS
- MS

Natasha's body being under siege has caused a myriad of symptoms and conditions she deals with on a daily basis: severe pressure in her brain which is believed to be enciphalitis,total body swelling especially in glands, face, and legs, in which she can gain/lose 10-15 lbs of fluid all in the run of a day,

swelling and pain in her spine, debilitating migratory pain traveling from stomach, to lymph nodes, to abdomen, bladder and colon inflammation, arthritis throughout her entire body, allergic reactions to everything as the infection destroys the digestive system, trigeminal neuralgia which causes extreme nerve pain in the face and brain, heart palpitations, difficulty breathing, weakness to the point where she can not even brush her own hair at times, inflammatory pains throughout her body, has at times lost ability to use her legs or arms, tingling and loss of feeling in her extremities, nausea and vomiting, vertigo spells, severe stiffness of joints, seizing, fevers, impairment of vision, extreme sensitivity to light and sound as it deteriorates your nervous systems, tremors, loss of short term memory, developed speech impediments, loss of teeth and hair, most recently issues with kidneys and pancreas. The list could go on.

While she's spent the past decade pursuing every treatment she could to cure her body, even without knowing exactly what was the cause of her deterioration, she has seen countless doctors, specialists, all having no real answers. There comes with this physical nightmare an emotional component when you've had many false diagnoses and your life has been reduced to a hospital bed; you've watched your friends and family struggle with not knowing how to help, you've watched as everyone goes on with life and the only thing you've been able to do is find light in the darkness and keep your faith and will to fight.
There is so much to Natasha's story that I could share but it would take hours of truly explaining and sharing everything. She has been sharing her journey on social media as of late, in hope to not only release all that she has carried for so long, but to also help others that may be experiencing a similar one. She would gladly share anything or answer any questions that anyone might have and wants everyone to feel free to reach out. I will also leave links for more insight on the epidemic for anyone interested.

So basically now where we're at in this treatment is urgent, crucial, and time sensitive. In January of this year, Natasha was hospitalized with Mycoplasma ( a co infection of Lyme ) pneumonia after almost a year of having been in what she thought was remission. (she was able to work again and was able to coast through day to day,physically) Unfortunately it was only caught after a couple of months of her having it and it took everything left of her immune sytem. She had special testing sent to the Igenix lab in California and every category for the disease came back positive, some triple and quadruple positive. She's just been hospitalized again recently for pancreatic issues and is struggling to get that under control. She needs to start rounds of therapy as soon as possible. Unfortunately most of them are not covered for Lyme disease at this time in Canada, and we have exhausted all of our resources trying to get her well.
She will need to have treatments here at least twice a week to try and rebuild her immune system so that she can get to a point where antimicrobial therapy in the US will be an option for her. At this time her immune system is so weak that she is reactive to all antibiotics. Her white blood count runs at 3 on a good day, and she has indicators of inflammation and Atypical infections that are still not understood by our MDs.

With all of the treatments, travel time to and from the clinics, special foods, therapies, mineral and vitamin supplementation, IVs, antimicrobials, and any other methods to aid her body in healing, we will need anyone and everyone’s help.
I want to go at this full bore, with all the treatments available to us, but without funding, this will not be possible.

I believe in miracles and so does Natasha…our life has seen a steady stream of them already, and I will not give up on her nor do I think this is her ending. She has so much will left in her and believes her purpose is to get well so that she can study further in the natural medicine field to help others and bring more light to this disease.
