Hope for Laura

Last Fall my beautiful cousin Laura Jischke Stone became sick with what she thought was a persistent cold and cough. She went to the Dr.  and the Dr. gave her medication thinking that would resolve the problem. Not long after our wonderful grandmother became ill in December and we found out she had small cell lung cancer, our wonderful beautiful, vibrant grandmother died just days after her birthday in early January.  Just weeks after saying goodbye to our beloved grandmother my beautiful, vibrant cousin Laura, still feeling sick and drained from this illness she could not shake since fall,  after numerous tests, including a CT scan, endoscopic procedure, a visit with an oncologist and an MRI & PET scan, Laura found out that she had stage 4 non small cell lung cancer which had spread to various parts of her body. My cousin Laura has bravely and vigorously fought and is still fighting this horrible disease. However, Laura has had a very discouraging set back. The chemo she has been getting is no  longer working and they will be trying a much stronger chemo. The doctor has given her maybe 6 months at this time. Although we  remain hopefull in her fight we are also very saddened and heartbroken by this news. She is, as many are that are diagnosed...way too young to be fighting this battle. My cousin worked hard and has dedicated her whole life to her work and her 2 young adult children and her grandchildren, her family and her friends. She has always cared for everyone and has been generous throughout her life sharing what she has with those she loves. Those who know Laura knows what a wonderful, funny, loving, strong, caring human being she is... but sadly at this time Laura is now unable to work and needs as much support as possible. She should be taking care of herself and concentrating on her health and family at this time  without worrying about her finances and building medical costs.
