From day one Hannah has been a fighter. Born at 30 weeks Hannah spent 6 weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit before coming home. Hannah has a form of cerebral palsy called spastic diplegia which affects her lower limbs. She requires leg braces and a walker to assist with walking. She goes to therapy weekly and requires daily stretching and exercises. She has received Botox injections every three months for the past few years to help with the tone in her legs. Through all of this Hannah has remained the sweetest, most compassionate 5 year old girl you will ever meet. She cares so much for others and her smile and spirit lights up every room she walks into. She's just like any other 5 year old girl who loves being a princess, playing with her dolls, singing along with Taylor Swift,  and watching YouTube videos and Ellen Degeneres.

Hannah is having a life changing surgery in September 2016 called selective dorsal rhizotomy which has the chance to give her a significant increase in her quality of life and increase her mobility. The surgery requires at least a week long stay in St. Louis, plus follow up visits, and a couple years of intense physical therapy, possible orthopedic surgeries, and the need for many medical devices. Although insurance helps with some of these costs, there are many copays, deductibles, non-covered expenses such as travel, lodging, non-covered therapies, etc. that Hannah's family will incur over the coming years.

Hannah's parents would do anything for her and that includes swallowing their pride and asking for financial help for Hannah's medical costs so that she has every opportunity to achieve all of her dreams. Those dreams include being a doctor, teacher, wife, and mother.

Please help make sure Hannah has the opportunity to maximize her quality of life and mobility.

Sorry for taking so long to do an update on Hannah's surgery. She had a successful surgery yesterday and is on best rest (on her back) until Friday. She is a trooper and is being the perfect Hannah that we've come to expect. She has a little fever that they are keeping an eye on and is sleeping at the moment. We will be coming back in the next few months to have an orthopedic procedure to lengthen her hamstrings and heel cords. This will be a one night stay and a lot less involved. Everyone's generosity has made these multiple trips to STL a lot less burdensome financially. We thank you again for that!

We are pleased to inform everyone that not only have all of you wonderful people helped us raise over $8,000 for Hannah's medical costs but we received the letter today from the insurance company saying that they will cover her surgery. This is great news as the surgery itself is over $40,000, not including travel and lodging. All the generous support we have received will go a long way in helping with Hannah's physical therapy. She's looking at four days a week for six months after surgery and the two to three days a week for eighteen months after that. We know that this little princess will exceed every expectation of her and will amaze us as she does every day. We will provide our next update after her surgery has been done the last week of September.

We are just a couple months away from this life changing event. The fund will stay open in the event anyone is interested in donating.
