Haiti's Hope Center

Donation protected
Adding to Project 418’s track record of success building and operating an orphange/children’s home, we will be traveling to Haiti in September to celebrate the opening of a second children's home.

Additionally, we will expand the first vocational school in a children’s home in Haiti, and The Ragbirds will join us to kick off the school’s music program and spread the message of hope and unity to the people of Haiti.

Documentary footage of the trip will be filmed by 2188 Studios, which is operated by actor Jeff Daniels and his sons Ben and Lucas.

Our goal is to create self-suffiency by helping young adults learn trades that earn three times the average Haitian wage. Students at the school will provide quality services such as masonry, plumbing, and electrical to the surrounding communities. The vocational school also includes basic education and we will introduce a music component, because music and the arts are so vital to quality of life and education.

The Ragbirds will join in the building process and lead workshops for both students and instructors at the center.

Instruments will be provided to the center so that ongoing music education can take place. Though there is a language barrier, music provides a wonderful way to connect and communicate. The band’s joyful, inspirational music encourages collaboration and inspires dance, which in turn provides a sense of hope and vitality. The band will spread the messages of love and hope to the greater community as well, by performing a series of public concerts.

By providing students with the skills needed to acquire well-paying jobs, we are giving them the tools to escape the poverty that is so prevalent in Haiti. It is our hope that they will utilize these skills to further improve the conditions for the impoverished in their community, by building and repairing housing and facilities.
