Hope's Haven provide comfort blankets

Hope’s Haven

Hope’s Haven helps shelter dogs (and puppies) stay warm, sleep comfortably, and have fun by providing hand-made blankets to local shelters/humane societies in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area. Blankets are handmade by myself Quintin (Pops), our 11-year old daughter Madison (Maddie), and we want to include our ENTIRE Girl Scout Troop 1114! How awesome is that!? Everyone in our troop will have the opportunity to volunteer their time, energy and skills to help animals in transition to new homes. To deliver blankets to shelters all over the DFW area, we need yarn as well as knitting & crocheting materials.

How did Hope’s Haven happen? We adopted our dog, "Hope" nickname "Puppy,” to complete our family of three. That dog changed our lives giving us so much love, attention, and affection. We realized that a happy dog could change someone’s life, and we knew we couldn’t adopt them all! We are introducing Hope’s Haven where every dog is comfortable! So comfortable that they not only have a blanket but also have treats and toys. In the future, we hope to be able to find partners/wholesalers (multiple donors) that will help deliver dog treats and toys to give the dogs (and puppies) all the comforts of “home.”

After one of the Girl Scout trainings, we were obsessed with yarn and knitting! It was fun, therapeutic, and easy. It only made sense to combine our love for dogs with knitting and Girl Scouts. To earn a Bronze Award as a Girl Scout, Madison needs a sustainable community project. Not only will Hope’s Haven fulfill Madison's Girl Scout requirement to get her closer to earning her Bronze Award, but also it gives her a sense of purpose.

Benefits of our Blankets:

They are low maintenance – throw in the washer, and that’s it!

They are large enough for any size dog – approximately 24" x 24" and 36" x 36".

They are soft and cuddly giving them a comfortable spot to sleep.

Puppies love to play/lay with them! (Our puppy goes crazy for her blankets!)

The blankets provide comfort when the dogs are alone.

We will deliver in the North Fort Worth area first, and plan to expand throughout the DFW area by Fall 2019. To do this, we need your help! We are asking for $1600 to cover supplies (yarn & knitting needles) for at least three shelters. If you cannot donate at this time, no worries, please share this post with all of your friends, family, and followers! If you live in the area and would like to donate yarn, knitting needles, gently used dog toys, treats, etc. We have a box to fill at the following locations:

We'll pick up the items and update this list when we get new locations. Please email us to schedule a pick up.

Thank you so much for reading this to the end, for donating your money, for sharing our post, for supporting a Girl Scout project, and most of all, helping local shelter animals. Our goal is to give every dog comfort…with a blanket.
