2018 began as a whirlwind as my father caught the flu. It was unreal for him and how he couldn't shake it off. My dad always had been the person who rarely catches colds let alone the flu. The rare occasion that he is sick, he's up and recovering in a day or two.

This flu hospitalized my father for 4 days in the PCU (Progressive Care Unit) ward and had become a dangerous form of pneumonia. Not only that, but he was becoming septic and if he didn't go the hospital when he did, he would have died at home a few days later. Doctors wanted to perform a CT scan to make sure the congestion in his lungs were not hiding a part of a mass. That test came back clean with no mass, however the scan image also picked up the adrenals and a mass was detected there! An incidental find. The mass was small, and more tests were ordered, and my father was referred to a specialist.

After another CT exam, that specialist referred him to another specialist. By that time my father's mass had grown by 1/3rd already. Another PET/CT scan exam was preformed, and the findings were consistent with malignancy. As of December 21st, 2018 my father was informed that mass grew from 5 cm to 10 cm and is now a fast growing cancer. On January 22nd, 2019 the University of Michigan hospital called to inform us that his cancer has now spread to his bones and will not be able to do surgery to take out the cancerous mass. If he does nothing, the doctors told us he might only have two more months to live. The only other course of action we can take now is to go with chemo therapy. Adrenal cancer is very rare, and this limits us on finding information quickly and easily. Doing the chemo therapy may give him another year to live but it is not guaranteed. This will put my dad out of work and with him being the sole provider as my mom had to quit her job to take care of my dad, we will lose everything if something happens to him. We are struggling  financially with bills, both hospital and our everyday bills. His insurance will help with costs, but much will be left for us to cover as well. We are still currently paying for the 4-day PCU stay and emergency room visit from January 2018.

We must travel out of town for all my father's care at the University of Michigan Hospital. We are in need of help for all the travel, shelter, operations, chemo therapy, and future/past exams and operations.

My dad is the kind of man that would give (does and have) his shirt off his back to help someone in need. Many times, we have waited for him to show up, to find out he stopped to help pull someone out of a ditch in a slide off or given them a ride if he couldn't get them out. Also, many other situations including money to help someone in need. My father has rarely missed a day of work in 30 years and we have never went hungry or been found begging. We have never been rich either, but we have always have had enough. This time he can't do it and neither can we.  We as his family must seek your help and support to get my father what he needs to continue to be here with us.

We ask that you please pray with us this prayer: Heavenly Father, we know your will be done to the glory of your name always. Today we the believers in Christ Jesus and His saving plan for us through his Blood we do claim fast! We ask for our family to be given a testimony by which we desire to share with any and all others under your ( the Father) direction to give glory to your name. We ask doors to be open and you guide every path and accomplish a new thing and through us for your word is mighty above all. Faith provide us and keep us forever. The door is open, please come in and train us in your work. we are willing and all things are possible through Christ. We claim your promises and so desire to have doors opened to reach more souls for your kingdom and we haven't a clue how, so its all you and we desire to be as empty vessels. Empty us and refill us for your propose. Your will none the less be done. You are God alone. Blessed be the name of our Lord, King of Kings and Lord of Lords for His is the power and the glory forever and ever. To the glory of Jesus Amen!

Thank you all so much,
Sincerely, The Cunningham Family
