Our sweet friend and loved one, Joy (Hollingshed) Hernandez needs our help!

Those who know Joy personally (I have known Joy since our senior year in high school) know that her name describes her perfectly. She is a woman of joy! She is a sincere joy to be around and spreads joy wherever she goes. To know her is to love her!
Joy has become so ill that she is now incapable of working and needs major surgery.
This all started in Joy’s mid-20’s when she was first diagnosed with Adult Chronic Asthma. Since, she has had 10 sinus surgeries and has been hospitalized.
In her late 20’s it was discovered that MRSA had begun colonizing in her throat and sinuses. In Sept 2017 it was discovered that the MRSA and e Coli was now colonizing in Joy’s lungs as well. Last week, Joy found out from her Pulmonologist that BOTH her bronchial tubes and trachea have partially collapsed (which is the main reason she struggles to breathe). She now has a tiny airway through which to breathe. She was also told that her trachea is more damaged than they originally thought.
Because of this, her Pulmonologists will put temporary stents in. She will then be sent to a specialist in Boston, Mass, where she will have major surgery. They will reconstruct her trachea and bronchial tubes. During surgery they will remove the stents.
As you can imagine, this battle has taken a tremendous toll on Joy and her family. However, their faith remains strong and is inspiring!
How You Can Help
Very humbly, Joy has allowed me permission to share with you that after insurance has paid their portion, Joy and her husband, Mario, are left with theirs which when totalled up is well into triple digits. This is what is yet to be paid. This does not include her/her husband’s air fare to Boston or the surgery that she will have there, nor the stent surgery.
