Hope for Hannah Barquero

$11,937 of $25,000 goal

Our sweet, smart and feisty Hannah Banana has been diagnosed with leukemia (ALL). Knowing her as we do, this has come as a shock to us all.

During a time of year when the Barquero & Stack family should be hunkered down enjoying all the festivities the holiday season brings, they are now faced with a daunting road ahead. As the community near and far around them we want to do whatever we can to ease their burden so they can focus on Hannah's comfort and care; spend time with loved ones; keep some normalcy for big brother Joshua and support them as they commute to and from Denver for the treatments that lay ahead.

Hannah's care will take months if not years until this is behind her.  We are setting this goal to rally behind this family we love so much and give them the strength they need to fight this disease.

Clare and Ricky and their entire family are positive, focused and confident in Hannah's strength.

In order to minimize Ricky and Clare's exhaustion, if you would like to send a message, please email them at hannahbarquero@gmail.com. This will help minimize texts and calls and allow them to get to the messages when they can.

Lastly, Clare and Ricky want to thank everyone who has called and sent such supportive messages in this extremely difficult time for them. Hannah will endure multiple procedures this week and begin chemotherapy immediately.  Please keep them in your prayers.
Thank you.

Hi Everyone
As we move closer to 2/14, a day set aside for celebrating love, let’s show Hannah and her family some love and do everything we can to reach our fundraising goal. Every single dollar counts! In honor of the 14th (Hannah’s Birthday is 11/14) I challenge each and every one of you to donate $14 or more. If you’ve already donated, please consider donating again. If you haven’t yet, NOW is your chance! Consider donating $14 for just yourself or each family member. It’s less than a lunch or dinner, heck less than a movie ticket! It may not feel like much but these funds help Hannah’s care in more ways than I can explain.

Hannah continues to struggle on every single day. Just two months ago a good day was a full day at school, playing with friends, being outside and perhaps going out to eat. Now on a rare good day, Hannah can enjoy (just maybe) one single hour of leaving the house or perhaps going to school.....for just one single hour. A good day for Hannah is a day without pain or vomiting or the many other side effects she doesn’t have the strength to complain about. Imagine that is your best kind of day. She has such a long road ahead and we know she can do it. Let’s stand behind them and show them how much we can be there during this time.

Please donate and share. Much love and gratitude.

As we all have renewed hope and goals for the New Year I want to make sure we remember that Hannah faces a new year that is very different from us all. She is navigating bravely as we knew she would but now she marches on, without her beautiful curls and in a weakened painful body that varies from hour to hour.

In addition to the new reality of Hannah’s Leukemia, unfortunately she has also tested positive for a gene mutation in her bone marrow (only 5% of ALL cases have this). This means her chemo needs to be even stronger and she will have to fight as hard as possible to rid her little body of every last cell.

I share this truth with you so that you are fully aware of what the Barquero family are facing. As their village of support of family and friends near and far we need to continue to rally around them as they continue in the days, weeks, months and yes years ahead.

Our campaign is off to a great start however as the bills begin to arrive it is more evident than ever, how needed our support will be. Please consider making a donation and sharing with your friends and family as we continue to support the Barquero (and Stack) family.

If you would like to help above and beyond donating, the Barquero’s have been very grateful to families near and far participating in their meal train to provide them with dinners.

Many thanks

Thank you so much for all of the donations that have started coming in. Clare and Ricky are extremely grateful for the prayer, love and support they have been receiving.

They have received their first glimmer of good news in that Hannah’s spinal tap has come back clear. This means the cancer cells have not spread into her spinal cord nor her brain. This is good news they were hoping for.

Hannah is weak and nauseous as the chemo begins to work however she is regaining use of her hands and her pain in her wrist is subsiding which is a relief.

Two of Hannah’s classmates came to visit and delivered a box of treasures of cards and notes from all of her classmates as well as her seat covered in love and pictures. Her spirits have definitely been lifted and it meant the world to her.

While our campaign is off to a great start, we really want to make sure we reach our goal for the Barqueros. If you cannot donate even a small amount at this time, please consider sharing this on social media and emailing the link to friends and family. We truly appreciate your support.
