Hope For Anchovy

$1,025 of $1,000 goal

Raised by 21 people in 11 months
Hi, I’m Anchovy! I am a very special kitten with a very special need for your help. Seems my back legs don’t want to work like other kittens.   I use only two, where they use four.  Some kind people have already generously donated to my plea for help & have given me hope.  They helped diagnose my condition and have put a plan into action.  But in order to continue with my treatments, diagnostics on my progress and my evaluation checkups I am going to need some help funding the costs.  That's where you come in!

I have already started a series of acupuncture treatments, along with some different medications to try and clear the pathway in my spinal column.  I may need some chiropractic treatments, other medications and x-rays as the continued monitoring and evaluations are done.  My evaluations will also include a series of exercises that I will have to work on.

My will is strong and when I set my mind to something, I can promise you that I will give it everything I've got!  I am working VERY hard because I have been given hope.

So please donate what your heart will allow.  I am so very grateful to everyone who will help me along my journey and continue to give me hope...

Hi everybody, it’s Anchovy. I know it has been a long time since I spoke with all of you. Sorry about that, but you know how time flies when you’re having fun. I just love my forever family so much and have been growing up and doing all the things that young adolescents do. Lots of playing, exploring, napping and picking on my canine siblings. You know the usual stuff.
I have also been working with my mommy on strengthening my legs too. She helps me with my physical therapy exercises, continues to take me to acupuncture and taught me to use my cart to help put some weight on my back legs. I am getting the hang of it now but when I want to move really fast, I still like to go “freestyle”!
BUT, now that spring is finally here, I am feeling very happy. I can look out my windows and see everything coming to life. While I have always loved laying on my back and just relaxing soaking up the sun, something amazing happened when my mommy put on some music for me yesterday. I just couldn’t contain my happiness! I started tap dancing to the music. This made her so happy she said I just had to share this video with all of you who helped support me on my Journey of Hope. Quite frankly, it felt pretty darn good to me too.
Welcome to spring everyone. A time of happiness, hope and infinite possibilities. I love you all and when given the chance, I hope you dance!!
Hugs,
Anchovy

Hi everybody, it’s Anchovy!

I know it has been awhile since my last update, but you just wouldn’t believe how busy I have been. You know how the holidays can be, right? My new family gave me a wonderful 1st Christmas, with lots of love. Not only did they give me my forever home (which you know I asked Santa for), but I now have siblings: Luna Lovegood and Barty Crouch Jr. Check out our picture! Aren’t we all adorable? We love to play and snuggle together.

I just wanted you all know that I am continuing to grow and am becoming quite a handsome young man. I am thriving and everyday making a little progress with my back legs. My mom says that I am happy and confident with a wonderful personality. She knows that I love to play and have fun with my siblings, but when she needs some cuddle time I’m up for the task!

I continue to get acupuncture therapy every other week and am now able to bear weight on my back legs, but still can’t get the hang of taking steps. I do move my legs when I’m cruising around the house. I am still gaining strength and building a little muscle in my back legs. My mom and I work on my physical therapy every day. My cart is still a challenge, but we continue to work on that, too.

As I have always promised all of you who have supported my Journey of Hope, I am working very hard to gain full use of my legs. But you have helped fulfill my life’s biggest hope: one of being loved and giving love. Thank you and I love you all.

Anchovy’s mom says this: “I cannot say enough about how wonderful Anchovy is. Everyone that meets him falls in love. I am so grateful that you gave him the chance to thrive. I cannot imagine life without him.”

Ps – forgot to tell you my family has given me the nickname of “Bon Chovy” because they think I’m a real rock star! Not sure what that means, but I like it!!

Hi everyone!

I am so excited to share some GREAT NEWS!
A couple of weeks ago, I went to visit Santa and tell him my Christmas wish. I told him I am SO thankful for the many guardian angels helping me in my journey beginning with the kind man who rescued me from a parking lot, to my foster families, to Dr. Mary, Dr. Amy, and the wonderful staff and volunteers at the HSLC. But, my heart was still hoping to find my very own special person who I could love forever. Someone who would take care of me, keep me safe, and be my family to grow up with. It seemed like a lot to ask and I’m not sure how he did it, but Santa blessed me with my Christmas wish! I have been ADOPTED into a PURR-fect home and family! Everyone is SO HAPPY – especially me!

My new family and the HSLC Team is VERY committed to work together and continue helping me in my Journey of Hope to gain function of my legs and spine. We are continuing with my chiropractic and acupuncture treatments plus exercise therapy including something new and really cool…

Thanks to all of you who supported me, Dr. Amy was able to order a special cart fitted just for me! She says it will help me gain strength in my back legs so that I can build up my muscles. The first time I tried, it felt a bit strange, but with practice I think I am going to get the hang of it. I will use the cart a few hours a day as physical therapy and, hopefully, my legs will get strong enough to stand on them alone. Just another leg, (pun intended), on my Journey of Hope.

I will keep you updated on my progress and hope you will continue cheering for me!

Happy Holidays to all my friends!
Love, Anchovy

ps - please share my happy news so other animals with special needs can be filled with hope that they will find their loving family too.

Anchovy's Christmas Angel...

Hi everybody, just wanted to let you know that I have been so busy getting ready for the holidays. I have been helping my foster mommy decorate the house for Christmas. This is my first Christmas and I am so excited. We have been baking cookies & making gingerbread houses and singing Christmas carols.

I just had to let you all know that I went to visit Santa. It was so wonderful. My foster mommy & I got to wear these matching hats. Everyone said I looked adorable, but I wasn’t so sure about that. On our way to visit Santa she told me that I had to think of a special wish to ask Santa for. To wish for something that I really wanted him to bring to me. I told her I had been so blessed by all the people that have been taking my journey of hope with me that it was hard to imagine that I could want anything more. But then it came to me and I knew what it was. My foster mommy told me I had to keep it a secret and could only tell Santa. So when I saw Santa, I whispered in his ear and he gave me a little wink, nodded his head and gave a big smile. It was like he already knew my wish….
I am hoping Santa will bring me my Christmas miracle.
Stay tuned and I will let you know when it comes true.

Hugs & kisses to you all.

Love,
Anchovy
