Hoole Christmas Lights

Hoole Residents and business have been working together since 1999 to bring light to Hoole at the darkest time of year. This event is funded by donations from the local community. Every Christmas Hoole high street is bright with hundreds of lights. There's always a fun, family friendly switch-on event where Santa is helped by hundreds of children and the local community bring festive joy to Hoole. Just switching on the lights this year will cost approximately £4,000. This covers insurance, electricians, road closures and event costs such as staging and paramedics etc. £10,000 is now needed to maintain the lights as they have been up 20 years. That's less than £1.00 per Hoole resident! Local business do fund a lot of the cost  but they are mostly small, independent traders - which is why they are so unique, helpful and great! Of course Hoole Residents always contribute generously through the donations buckets,family events, barbecues etc. It's always a big effort raising the funds but we always seem to get there in the end!  Now we hope that this year GoFundMe®  will be a new way for residents to contribute.  We are well on track for the switch-on event on 24th November but are still a bit short. Money will be needed to take down the lights after Christmas and start getting them ready for Christmas 2019 which will be the 20th - yes 20th - anniversary of Hoole Christmas Lights! So why not donate £1 or £2 or however much you can. Every bit counts and will help keep Hoole Lights going strong right into their third decade.
