Honoring Tylor Ford: Services & Memorial

Raising money for services for our former student, Tylor Ford. His life was taken suddenly, leaving his family no time to prepare. His family needs to raise the funds pretty urgently to pay a deposit to the funeral home, secure a date, and begin the expensive but important process of laying Tylor to rest. We will keep the window open until Sunday 7/28.

His mother, Ms. Sarah, and his family need love, support, and donation at this time. She is organizing a lunch order on Friday (details in the pictures) but I know that there are teachers and loved ones near and far. 

This account is being set up by his teachers from elementary and middle school. Kate Geiss is organizing and can be the point person for questions.  Tylor was in college at Delgado when I last spoke with Ms. Sarah-- all grown up. His brilliant, kind siblings are close behind him. 

From Kate: Tylor was my first student here in New Orleans. On my very first day teaching in 2008, 8-year-old Tylor zoomed out of my "line" and into the room grinning and giggling. I couldn't keep up! He already knew the math I planned to teach that unit and the next unit.  I had to catch up to him. Tylor taught me a lot of patience and was the first indication that I would grow closest to kids that required love, creativity, and humor to reach. Ms. Sarah was a wonderful introduction to parent-teacher conferences. She demanded the best for Tylor and held our feet to the fire, reminding us of how truly smart he was, despite his extra energy.  If anything, that made him even more curious! She stayed with him through every stage of his journey, working with his teachers to help him be successful. Sarah and I had the chance to work together a few years later when I returned to the school and taught Tylor for 7th and 8th grade. 

Tylor was always a radiant soul, full of life, energy, and loyalty. He was curious and bright. A great big brother to his brothers and sisters, even from a young age. All of the money raised will go to Ms. Sarah to help with the services so please donate what you can and send out to your networks.
