Homes for Rescues

URGENT! PLEASE HELP! We are Intertwined Conservation a non-profit working to preserve wildlife and wild places in Costa Rica by supporting parrot conservation through education, rescue, and reintroduction. Our rehab field team on the Osa Peninsula are in desperate need of your help! A group of juvenile rescue parrots have recently joined our Osa flock at Hatched to Fly Free (HTFF) a couple weeks ago. These individuals were rescued by MINAET (Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Technology) the institution responsible for implementation, management and the administration of biodiversity in Costa Rica. MINAET brought these rescues including: 7 brotogeris (parakeets), 5 autumanalia (amazons), 1 aratinga (conure) and 1 pionus to a sanctuary in San Jose. Their next stop was the Osa, with HTFF where they will spend approximately two months in aviaries prior to release.


Unfortunately, we do not have enough aviaries! We need to build two more aviaries ASAP, one for amazon parrots and one for parakeets and small parrots. Similar aviaires to the one shown below that was built for large parrots like the scarlet macaw. We need to raise $5,000 in order to build both aviaries but we are going to start with just one first, the aviary for Amazon parrots at the cost of $2,500.


The first two generous people that donate $1,000 will be given the naming rights to the two scarlet macaw chicks  currently getting ready for release back out into the wild.  These two scarlet macaw chicks were poached as chicks and rescued by HTFF a couple months ago.  


With your generosity we will be able to not only provide these 14 juvenile parrots with adequate space to call home while they get ready for realease back out into the wild but they will also be homes for future rescues to come.
