House of Merlot for the Homeless

Donation protected

In 2016, The Range gave our local drag troupe, the House of Merlot, a space to regularly perform in. We started our legacy there with a food drive for the homeless. We have since learned that there is much more we could do for our local homeless community. Non-food essential items are being requested at our December 14th fundraiser, a link to which can be found here:

The Friendship Center via the Rescue Mission has also infomed us that they are in need of a $4000 rennovation, of which we plan to pledge and hope to raise $1000 (the extra $200 covers GoFundMe fees). While we are collecting money at the show, we plan keep this fundraiser going as long as is possible to help them afford at least 25% of the project.

The statistics for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) homeless youth are shocking, as this group represents up to 40% all young people experiencing homelessness. Considering that LGBT youth represent an estimated 7% of the total youth population, these numbers are disproportionately high. The holidays are especially bad for queer people at odds with their families, many of whom still kick their children out onto the streets in the dead of winter. Please find a space in your heart to help them this winter season.
