Cimminnee Holt's Research In Norway
I'm a Canadian doctoral student in religion and looking to help fund my six-month research project in Norway to study weird arcane stuff no one else likes to study. If you give me money it won't help you or society in any quantifiable way, and improves no one's quality of life except my own.
It will, though, help me write a kick-ass dissertation, and get that degree, after which I will insist that everyone call me "Doctor Holt"--even my mom. You can at least feel good about that.
In short, I need just about $11,000 to fund my six-month research in Norway, and I have already obtained $7,000 from research grants and awards. This campaign is to raise the missing funds.
For the nitty gritty of my research, a detailed budget, and all things academic related, find out more about me and the project on my website.
My time here is almost up, and I've accomplished quite a lot, academically speaking. Working closely with an expert in my (small, fringe, and weird) field has helped refine and enhance my thesis. I will move into the next phase of my dissertation with the kind of confidence that only having the proper tools can provide.
All my postcards were mailed over two months ago, though a small handful of you have not received it. So if you have not gotten anything in the mail, shoot me a message here to confirm your address, and I'll send another along.
For those of you expecting small rewards, they will be mailed this week! And if anyone wants me to curse or bless someone on your behalf, I will go to the fjord's edge and call upon the gods and goddesses of wisdom and education (and good fortune and spite), and send your desire into the mist. I don't know if it will actually work, but I never curse or bless anything without passion---purging is always magical and cathartic.
As always, you can stay updated on my blog at www.cimminneeholt.com
Many thanks to everyone---I cannot express how much it means to me.
Thank you for the support and birthday wishes! Norway is breathtakingly beautiful. In order to see more of it, I recently made a trip into the Arctic circle and went on a dog-sledding expedition. You can read about it on my blog at www.cimminneeholt.com
For those of you expecting rewards in the mail, most of them have been posted, and the rest coming later in the week. Thank you again; your support is truly appreciated.
You may keep tabs on me and my adventures (adventures punctured by weeks and weeks of reading and writing and research) by clicking the "follow me" tab on the blog and entering your email.
From Norway with love,
I've written a blog post about my first few days in the near-arctic, where it's a balmy 3 degrees Celcius compared to the -20 back home. It's practically a tropical vacation.
