#NicoVelezPlaza- De Cuidados Intensivos a Casa
Hoy les pedimos que ayuden a que Nico, nuestro bebé, pueda seguir en cuidados intensivos.
Somos Francisco y Valeria , hoy papás de Nicolás Velez Plaza.
Saber que uno va a ser papá es sin duda la noticia más maravillosa, por eso cuando nos enteramos que Vale estaba embarazada, aunque nos asustaba muchísimo, recién estábamos empezando nuestro hogar , nuestro negocio (@brainroom.ec) , aún sin seguro y con pocos ahorros, no cabiamos en la felicidad.
El embarazo iba excelente, pero todo se complicó y nos cambió de golpe en la semana 31. Con un repentino diagnóstico de preclampsia severa, el sábado 11 de enero tuvimos que internar a Vale de emergencia porque las presiones tan altas podían causar daños irreversibles a nuestro bebé y a ella .
Los problemas más serios comenzaron la mañana del domingo 12 de Enero, el momento en que la presión de Vale volvió a subir, empezó a ver borroso , su sistema nervioso se vio afectado y empezó a colapsar...En ese segundo llamaron a interrupción de embarazo de emergencia.
Nada te prepara para oír:
- Yo soy el responsable de salvar la vida de su esposa, no la pondré en riesgo ni un momento, su hijo está de 32 semanas, haremos todo lo posible por salvarlo.
Al medio día Valeria estaba en el quirófano y a la 1:09pm nació Francisco Nicolás Vélez Plaza.
Es indescriptible el dolor de ver a tu bebé , tan pequeñito y frágil, ser llevado a emergencia, con un cuadro extremadamente delicado y dejarlo en cuidados intensivos…pero Nicolás es un luchador y no se rinde !
Fue entubado a un respirador apenas nació y trasladado en condición crítica a cuidados intensivos, donde ha estado toda la semana. Cada día que él se mantiene estable es una victoria, sin embargo la mejoría es muy lenta y aún hay riesgos .
Cuando le quitaron el oxígeno la primera vez, en un par de horas se puso morado.
Cuando pensamos que había mejorado muchísimo y era hora de sacar el oxígeno nuevamente tuvo una pausa respiratoria. Y así hemos pasado nuestros días junto a Nico, confiando en Dios, en sus doctores y en su enorme fortaleza que va a salir adelante.
Pero no sabemos cuánto tiempo más va a tener que estar ahí, es imposible determinar si se quedará en Cuidados Intensivos dos semanas o tres meses. El esta aún tan frágil y con ello se vuelve tan relativo el tiempo...
Por eso en este momento pedimos su ayuda para poder seguir costeando los cuidados intensivos de nuestro bebé
Aunque sabemos que estamos en una época dura, Nicolás lo es todo para nosotros. Si pudieras apoyar con lo que fuera nuestro GoFundMe estaremos eternamente agradecidos . Y si no puedes donar solo el hecho de compartir nos acerca a que Nico siga recibiendo todas las terapias y cuidados que necesita.

Today, we ask for your help to keep Nico, our baby, in the Intensive Care Unit.

When you find out you are going to be a parent, it is without a doubt the most wonderful news you can get. That’s why, when we found out Vale was pregnant, even though it scared us due to us just starting our lives and business together, without insurance and little savings, it still filled us with boundless happiness.
The first months of the pregnancy, everything was great. That all changed on the week leading up to the New Year, when Vale was suddenly struck with severe Preeclampsia. On the 11th of January, we had to check Vale in to the emergency room due to her high blood pressure, which could end up causing irreversible damage to our baby and her.
The more serious problems started on the morning of the 12th. Vale’s blood pressure started to climb again, she had blurry vision, her nervous system started to shut down and she collapsed. At that moment, the doctor called for an emergency termination of the pregnancy.
Nothing can prepare you for the moment when the doctor says “I am responsible for your wife’s life, I will not put her at risk at any moment. Your child is t 32 weeks, we will do what we can to save him”
At mid-day Vale was in the operating room, and at 1:09pm, Francisco Nicolás Vélez Plaza.
The pain of seeing your baby, so small and fragile, be taken to the Intensive Care Unit in his extremely delicate condition, is simply indescribable. But our Nico is a warrior and does not give up!
He was put on a respirator as soon as he came out and he has been in the I.C.U for over a week. Every day that he remains stable is a victory, however his improvement is slow and he is still at risk.
The first time he was taken off the respirator, his blood oxygen levels started to drop precipitously.
After we though he had improved a lot and was time to take him off the respirator again, he had a (repiratory pause?). And that is how we have spent our days beside Nico, trusting God, his doctors and his incredible strength to that keeps him fighting on.
But we don’t know how much longer he will need this level of intensive care. It is impossible to determine if it’ll be a matter of weeks or months. He is still very fragile and this all makes time relative.
That is why we are asking for your help to keep Nico in the I.C.U where he can get the medical assistance he needs.
