My name is David Lamken and I am part of a volunteer team in central Wisconsin with a goal.

Our goal is to raise $125,000 to purchase and initially operate a Boeing Stearman biplane – named “Spirit of Wisconsin” – with the inaugural Dream Flight to occur at the Stevens Point, Wisconsin Municipal Airport.

First, to set the story - my father, Eddie, is a WWII Army veteran and a 1944 graduate of the Army Air Corp. Eddie, like many veterans, did not speak much about his great service to our country. I always knew he was a veteran but I did not know much more. In June of 2015, at the age of 91, Eddie had the opportunity to fly in a Boeing Stearman with AADF, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. 

The big smile, tears of happiness and overall joy my father displayed when he landed were things I will remember forever! He LOVED the opportunity to fly again and since then he and I have had many discussions about being a veteran. I am also a veteran, but prior to this opportunity, my father and I never found a way to share our experiences.

Since that time, I have seen others who had the opportunity to fly. I’ve sees their smiles, tears of happiness and heard their stories of how wonderful it was. Like my experience, I know many other families have had the incredible opportunity to learn more about their loved one and honor them for what they have given.

The Spirit of Wisconsin will allow veterans to take flight all over the central United States, providing families the experiences my father and I have shared.

The Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF) is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to honoring seniors and United States military veterans living in long-term care communities around the country.
The Foundation’s only mission is to “Give Back To Those Who Have Given” by providing FREE Dream Flights using fully restored Boeing Stearman biplanes.
