Hives For Haiti Permaculture

Donation protected
Dear friends and family,

If you can, please help us. We need to raise funds for our Haitian Permaculture Training,  February 2018.

Our Hives For Haiti team has identified environmental degradation as our number one concern.

Beekeeping is a superb way for poor Haitians to make a living, but, if the land continues to erode, there will be no suitable habitat for bees to survive.

The answer: Permaculture. Permaculture heals the land through mimicking natural ecosystems & harnessing water.

We're so excited that Brandon Bauer  http://permaculturebc.com/instructors/  has agreed to join us in Haiti, this February, to conduct an intensive Permaculture Design Course in Cerca Carvajal.

"we will deeply appreciate his contribution to the healing of our beloved country."  Max Perpignand

https://youtu.be/OWxuFRFV1po  In this video, Simon Remond describes the value of Permaculture to his community and Haiti. He says (in Haitian Creole), the socio economic values are tremendous and it gives them an opportunity to grow ample food for their families. In the past, they have not had this knowledge;  they will value it greatly.

Expenses:
1. shovels, picks, rakes, hoes
2. seeds & seedlings (our goal is to purchase and plant  several thousand seedlings)
3. lunch daily for each student (our students are poor farmers that can't afford nutritious food)
4. transport expenses & wages for Max
(i.e. transportation and translation services throughout the program)
5. complete beehives and apiary set-up at the new site
6. education materials (i.e. note pads, pencils, translated print outs, etc.)
7. travel costs for Brandon (i.e. plane ticket)

Hives For Haiti has a proven track record of: fostering independence,  utilizing funds effectively through the respectful sharing of knowledge, and success (i.e. our definition of success is: when we go home, the knowledge we left behind is still used, it's helpful, and we become redundant).

This is Simon, he was a student in our 2016 Beginners' Beekeeping program. He's built his own thriving apiary, https://youtu.be/GlxWRx2bHt0   taught several beginners' courses, completed four contracts to provide 8/4/1 bee colonies in top bar hives, and he heads the Cerca Carvajal Beekeepers' Association.  https://youtu.be/LXrYXPPyNTA

Many thanks to all, for your help, in making life a little better for the people of Haiti. They appreciate it, beyond words.
