Hip Needs Help!

Donation protected
My dad, James Anderson, or "Hip" as his friends call him, is in dire need of a stair lift in our home. He was diagnosed with a form of muscle dystrophy that has progressively gotten worse. I'm now in college, but it starting showing symptoms long ago.  While he was once a completely self sufficient man, this disease has forced him to move back into my grandparents home, and since then, need assistance with even the simplest of tasks.

He requires assistance getting up from the couch and getting into a vehicle,  but this is once he's able to get to the first floor. His bedroom is located in the basement, and since he can't get up the stairs on his own, he awaits help each day from a loyal friend that literally carries him up the stairs. Some days he has to wait for this friends arrival, and describes the feeling as "crawling out of his own skin".  The shower in our home is located on the second floor, and a similar situation occurs, where he has to wait to bath even. He has tolerated this completely immobile way of life for about a year now, and although I know he appreciates the help given to him, no one should have to live this way when it is unnecessary.

My dad hates this burden that he feels he puts on others, and would have a gained sense of confidence if his mobility was improved again. He would give the shirt off of his back for his friends, but I know he's starting to feel like he's asking too much of those needing to carry him around. This money would primarily go to the installation of a stair lift on both floors of our home, a ramp out front, a wheelchair, and a vehicle able to accommodate my father's needs. Our family has pursued other funding methods, but with no avail.

A stair lift would not only bring self sufficiency back into his life, but would eliminate the feeling of humiliation that comes with having to ask for help every time any minute need arises. Watching this disease progress within my father has been terrifying and sad, but the spirit he maintains throughout the process has showed me what a truly strong person he is.
