Our HILLCREST Middle School team won GOLD at the Odyssey of the Mind Provincial Competition in Burnaby, BC, on April 7, 2018.
This team is made up of Amélie, Bana, Cassidy, Clara, Melissa, and Ruby.
Now, we need YOUR help to get to the WORLD FINALS at Iowa State University!
Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition for kids from kindergarten to university. They work in small teams to solve problems from interpreting classic literature in a unique and fun play to building self-propelling vehicles. It is an incredible celebration of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics).
This year, the team chose to tackle a piece of classic literature and make a very curious mockumentary about Alice in Wonderland (and, if I may say so as their Coach, it's brilliant)!
Getting to Worlds means seeing 15,000 kids from over 40 countries excelling at their own unique type of 'academic Olympics.' The kids learn teamwork and problem-solving skills while interacting with other kids from all over the world!
We need your support to get there. Between transportation, lodging, and costs of constructing the problem, we are looking at about $14,000 in expenses.
Any donation will be appreciated!
Please note: if you want a tax receipt for donations over $25, you MUST donate offline. Please contact us directly for more details on how to do that.
