Help Fund Hilary's MFA!

Perhaps but once in our lives we will be touched so deeply by a place or an idea that it will shake the very core of who we are and how we operate within the world. That place for me is The Marchutz School of Art in Aix-en-Provence, France. I have a longstanding relationship with the school, as both an undergraduate student and as an Alumni Fellow, and its teachings have made an indelible impact on my life.


Recently, I was accepted into their MFA program for the upcoming Fall 2017 semester and I am thrilled to continue my journey with the school and the deepening of my artistic practice through it. Unfortunately, that journey comes at a cost—one that a working artist such as myself cannot easily afford.  


I am honored and grateful to have received the Dean’s Scholarship, Alumni Grant, Alumni Fellowship and Institutional Grant— almost every institutional scholarship for which I am eligible. This decreases the cost of tuition tremendously, but I am still left with around $10,000 that I will need to provide for the remaining tuition, plus the cost of living.  Unfortunately, Marchutz is not eligible for American Federal Student Aid, and as such, I will not qualify for American student loans.  


With this $10,000 goal in mind, I am reaching out to you to help me make this dream attainable! I have never felt more compelled towards an ambition as I am towards this one.  The MFA program at the Marchutz School will help me to achieve my lifelong aspiration of becoming a professional artist who can impart meaning in the world through my art.  I have every confidence that the school will prepare me for a meaningful lifelong career in the arts as both an artist and an educator.  


I am a Summa Cum Laude graduate from St. Catherine University with a BA in Studio Arts and French and am currently working diligently as an artist and art-educator in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am dedicated towards the pursuit of knowledge and my contribution to the world of art. With your help, I will be able to strengthen and solidify my command of painting and reinforce my partnership with a school that is truly unique.


If I am able to raise sufficient funds, I will be leaving in the beginning of September to start the program. I would be immensely grateful to any contribution, big or small, that could help make this dream a possibility!
