High Tea for 37 Mums in Zim

Donation protected
My name is Taku and I'd love to see the mothers of Zimbabwe get their spark and creativity back.

I am organising two high tea events in Harare and Bulawayo for 37 mothers in Zimbabwe who have been doing it tough.

We need your help to do the little things that lift their spirits so they can get back on their feet knowing they have love and support from all over the world.

Our first goal is taking them out for a cuppa tea and cake so they can meet each other and perhaps talk about the things they would like to do.

Our mission is to lift mothers so they can lift themselves and (m)others around them.

How can you help?
Your pledges go towards the catering for the high tea events. Anything else we raise above that will go towards a nice gift for each of the 37 mums. No matter what we raise, we will try to get something nice for them - ideally it would be nice to raise enough for a $50 grocery voucher or $50 dress voucher.  We prefer to give them gifts rather than cash.

But why all the fuss, you ask?
In the wake of the recent changes in Zimbabwe, I shared how hard it's been for my Mama. Since this video, people have reached out about their own mums and their friends' mums. Many others have asked how they can help, even if they're not Zimbabwean.

High Tea for 37 Mums in Zimbabwe
The events are simply a chance for all these mums to enjoy a free cuppa tea and cake with some new friends.
1 x Harare  event (20 mums)
1 x Bulawayo event (17 mums)

Want to nominate a mum in Zimbabwe?
Please message me directly on Facebook. We're looking for mums who have a spark/gift/talent/heart that could help other less-fortunate-than-they-are mums in their community if we (people outside of Zim) are able to support them in some way.

- Ideally mums who are widowed, divorced or alone.
- Ideally mums who haven't had proper employment for a while.
- Ideally mums who don't really have many friends outside of extended family and church people. (So mums who need new friends).
- Ideally mums who have children living overseas and who don't get to see their kids that often.

Have a product or service that could be a lovely gift for Mums in Zim? Please message me directly on Facebook.

Who is running this?
So far it's just me from Melbourne, Australia. I've been coordinating directly with the two venues in Zimbabwe. I also have a couple of friends helping me in Australia.

More information and updates
Please join the Friends of Mums in Zim group on Facebook if you'd like to be part of the conversations and brainstorming.

Thank you all so much!
