We are the High Peak Badger Group which is made up of a group of volunteers who care for and help conserve badgers across the High Peak in Derbyshire. We regularly get called to assist with injured or trapped badgers, sett interfences or cases is badger bait marking.
On the eve of Feb 3rd 2019 we were called to assist with a severely injured badger which had been forcibly removed from its sett by badger baiters. Unfortunately, after being cared for and comforted by members of our group, an emergency vet assessed the badger and it’s injuries and had no choice but to put the poor badger to sleep.
As a group of volunteers, we rely on donations to help support the work we do. All donations go to the equipment required to capture injured or trapped badgers, any vetenary fees, the upkeep of our recovery pen and day to day supplies to help look after badgers (such as food).
