Collis & Lucy's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Many of you know how Collis and I came together as man & wife. We knew each other as teens when we worked at a church day camp for inner city youth. We were always good friends but never dated. On August 29th 2006 I was telling my assistant a story of something that occurred back in 1970 and mentioned that Collis came by my home that day.... I finished my story, walked into my office and opened my business email to see a photo of Collis with the question "do you remember me?" I have not seen or mentioned his name since 1970 so I was in shock this was really him! We spoke by phone and I informed him I would be in Rochester in 2 days to visit my family. I lived in Atlanta at the time. As promised he came to see me at my sisters. He wished he could invite me to his company picnic the next day but had invited another young lady. Early the next day I get a call saying "She can't go, she has an ear infection!" So I did accompany him to the picnic where I learned he had never married. As it turns out he had carried a torch for me all those years.  I had never questioned my own feelings for him for it seemed futile since he did not show that kind of interest in me. But being back with him it brought back long supressed feelings I had held inside. Long story short he quit his job, moved to Atlanta and we were married 08-08-08 at 8:08 pm. Now comes a time where Collis & I have had our share of challenges this past year. In January 2015 he was unable to work any longer due to a host of dibilitating illnessnes. We were dismayed when he was declined Disability through Social Security. However, I was working and he convinced me to sign up for Social Security since I was only months away from age 66. It was a good thing I did because it started in February and helped keep us afloat. He then learned he could receive his Social Security while appealing the decision to deny him Disability. However, in October I was diagnosed with Cancer and forced to go on Short Term Disability which drastically reduced my pay. As I am scheduled for further surgery I will now go into Long Term Disability and thus, my income will be severely cut yet again. On April 4th Collis will begin Kidney Dialysis. Meanwhile our medical expenses & bills continue to soar and we are increasingly worried how we will be able to sustain ourselves until I can return to work and/or he is approved for Disability.  Most of the money will be used to pay medical bills and a small portion we would like to have in the event a Kidney donor becomes available in another state we enroll in and would have to hop on a plane at a moments notice. We would like to have the funds just as soon as our family and friends feel they can contribute. The prayers and well wishes have meant so much to us and have helped us to get through this time in need but it would be such an additional blessing if we could ask for financial help at this time. It is not an easy thing to ask for help but we have found strength in all the love we have been shown and would be ever so thankful for any financial aide we might recieve on our behalf.
