Post Tsunami Support for Batukaras' Surfboys
On the 22nd of December 2018 a tsunami, sparked by landslides from the erupting Mount Krakatoa, hit the coast of Banten and Lampung in Western Java and South Sumatra.
The Batukaras' "Reefbreak" Surfboys (age 15-24) were struck by the tsunami, having travelled to Banten and Lampung for a surfing competition on the 21st of December.
Fortunately they managed to escape the waves unharmed, eventually meeting back together to travel back to their hometown 'Batukaras', a small fishertown in Java.
Despite their fortune, these boys still lost or damaged much of their personal belongings and equipment, including their boards (11) and rental car.
The loss of their surf boards is a cruel punishment for these boys who are still digesting the shock of their personal survival stories- not only because it's very difficult for them to afford the costs of new boards, but also because it makes them uncertain as to when they could join next competitions. These competitions play a huge role as a gateway for future careers as pro-surfers.
That's where you can help.
As a global community, let's get these boys back into the water so they can continue to build upon their skills and passions as soon as possible. - In addition to being able to afford new boards, the funds will also be used to cover the cost of damages associated with their rental car.
Our aim is to raise as much money as possible. - The more money we can raise, the more boards we can replace & the more waves these boys will be able to catch as they strive to fulfil their dreams, birthed by the sand and sea.

What happens if we raise more money then we need?:
1) We'll be able to afford a few more boards togive more of the Batukara kids to develop their own surfing skills.
2) We'll contribute funds to other emergency relief agencies to help them provide aid and assistance to the tsunami-affected coastal towns.
