Hershey needs Surgery!

This is Hershey, an American Cocker Spaniel. He is not my pup, but the puppers of my dear, close friend Rebecca. This picture was taken on Wednesday, October 10th after Hershey had another emergency surgery resulting in a penrose drain being put in to his head. This is the second time in the last 10 days that I have rushed Hershey and Rebecca to the emergency vet. Hershey suffers from chronic ear issues, the result being an abscess that has caused the side of his head to swell with infection. This second time around, not only was a drain put in, but a pressure bandage as well to prevent Hershey's ear from flapping around when he shakes his head.
The only way to prevent this abscess from coming back in a Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA), a specialized procedure that only three vets in the entire state of Vermont perform. The cheapest estimate Rebecca has been given is $2500. This is not including the $650 emergency visit that Hershey got on the 10th, nor the $1300 vet visits from October 2nd and 3rd. Luckily, Rebecca's aunt is paying for the $1300 visits. Rebecca was also able to get Scratch Pay for the most recent visit, but I don't think she will qualify for Scratch Pay for the TECA procedure that Hershey now so desperately needs.
Hershey is only 6-years-old. He is a wonderful dog who loves everyone. When you tell him he is a cute boy, he does his "cute-boy-dance," which involves sticking his cute little butt in the air, doing a long downward dog, and bringing you a toy. I have never seen a dog who loves his owner as much as Hershey loves Rebecca. Hershey has been with Rebecca through thick and thin, guiding her out of the depths of depression, anxiety, and pain. He's not a certified Service Dog, but anyone who meets him, and sees how he helps Rebecca, would agree that he should be.
Please help me reach my goal of $3000 for the TECA procedure for Hershey ($2500 for the actual surgery, and $500 for possible follow-up care). All of the money will go towards paying for the vet bills, this I promise. If ever there were a dog and owner who deserved help, it's these two. They have been through so much together.
