Heritage Hill Stables Storm Damage
Donation protected
In the early morning hours of March 13th Heritage Hill Stables was hit with 80 mph straight-line winds causing extreme roof damage to the primary horse barn. Over 60% of the metal roof of the barn was blown off onto the roof of the house. Fences, round pen and the other barns were also damaged. The roof of the primary barn and house will need to be replaced. There is a sense of urgency as horseback riding summer camp for kids is the busiest time for Heritage Hill and starts in June. Repairs need to be completed by then. It is estimated the repairs will cost $10,000-$15,000. This type of wind damage was not feasible to insure against so 100% is out of pocket for this small business. Heritage Hill has been active in the community providing affordable horse riding lessons, camp and trail rides for the youth of North Texas through 4-H, girl scouts and others for 25 years. Antje and Don Mowell are in their 70's and are overwhelmed with the damage and repairs they are facing and can not do it themselves.
