Henry's Hustle

Donation protected
Henry is a 14 year old boy with a cheeky grin and a wicked sense of humour, and because of his Cerebral Palsy he usually uses a powered wheelchair to get around. In 2016 he was introduced to Wheelchair Basketball and spent the year trying to build his strength and learn some new skills with the help of a hired sports wheelchair.

Last weekend, Henry had his first taste of competitive sport and now there’s no turning back! He played with the Toowoomba Bushrangers (who won Silver in the B Division!) at the Suncoast Spinners Wheelchair Basketball Tournament . He got to meet a couple of Rio Paralympians, and “wants to be just like them”.

Now that he’s on his way, sitting on the sidelines watching his siblings is no longer an option – he wants us to be watching him! Hen needs your support to hustle in a chair designed just for him. He has already chosen his colour and is hoping for matching fluoro green wheels!!

Why is a specially designed wheelchair important?
Just like everyone else, people who need wheelchairs come in different sizes, shapes and preferences. Sitting in a wheelchair that isn’t designed for you is just like wearing a pair of stilettos two sizes too small. Having his own wheelchair will mean that Henry can spend longer period of time in the chair without the pain he currently experiences. It will also help with upper-body strength and stamina, not to mention his confidence.
