Help us save Cotton and Billy

Donation protected
Two dog mummies desperate to save their babies lives!!

Cotton is an 11 year-old Matese and Billy a 4 year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Cotton lives in Perth and Billy lives in Melbourne.

What do they have in common? Both have been diagnosed with the life threatening mitral valve disease (MVD). It can only be cured through life saving mitral valve repair surgery, which is only successfully performed by the renowned Japanese veterinarian surgeon, Dr. Masami Uechi.

However, the only way to have them operated by Dr Uechi and his team would be bringing them to Australia, once the strict Australian quarantine laws and requirements impede us from taking them overseas.

As you can imagine, it is REALLY expensive! We have to pay not only for the surgery, but also the whole team air tickets, accommodation and hospital fees.

We have joined forces to make it happen, but will not be able to make it without your help!! Please donate!! Even the smallest amount counts and helps A LOT!!

We would also like to ask you to share their stories and help spreading the word, as many other dogs suffer from the same condition thinking there's no cure - THERE IS!!!

And please - PRAY, PRAY AND PRAY!!!! <3

Below you will find a brief overview of Cotton and Billy's stories.

Cotton's story

I am Mayla and Cotton is my first little baby love!! I have had Cotton since he was only 8 week-old. I remember as if it had been yesterday, when 11 years ago I went out to the shops to buy my dad a birthday gift and saw Cotton for the first time - so little, so cute, so fluffy!! It was love at first sight!

Now, I am at risk of losing my little baby to this horrible disease - mitral valve disease.

Cotton was diagnosed 1 year ago with MVD. We started the medications straight away and he improved incredibily!

He had been having a "normal life" (okay, I tried to keep him a bit quieter) since then until the end of September, when he suddenly got really worse! My poor little baby collapsed and was rushed to the Emergency Hospital, where we found out he had had an accute edema (fluid in his lungs) due to a chordae tendineae rupture (the chords that hold the mitral valve). He spent 3 days in ICU and was discharged with a poor prognosis - less than 6 months to live!!

I could not accept this fatal prognosis and started looking for possible solutions and I FOUND IT!!! Dr Masami Uechi could save him through his ground breaking open-heart surgery - mitral valve repair!!

After a lot of research and countless contacts with the whole team we found out that the only option would be to bring the team to Perth, once Cotton would not be able to make it through the strict Australian quarantine process.

Now, we are rushing to organise everything for the surgery and also trying to raise the money to pay for it - at least AUD50,000.00.

Please help us saving our babies' lives!!! <3

Billy's Story

My name is Katherine and I have a cute little boy named Billy.

Billy is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and he was diagnosed with a heart murmur in February at 3 years of age, we have just had devastating news he has now been diagnosed with the dreaded mitral valve disease which is a heart condition - he is now only 4 and should be able to live another double or triple what he has already.
He was given around 6 months to live.

The good news in such a sad situation..HE CAN BE SAVED!

Billy can have mitral valve repair surgery and live a long healthy life, the only thing stopping us from going ahead is the cost of the surgery, we desperately need help in raising money as we just cannot afford the cost of approximately 50k.

We also need to drive the distance of 4000kms to Perth and and back and take the time off work to drive to Perth, be there for Billy to have open heart surgery and wait til he's discharged to then drive the distance back to Melbourne, Victoria. We ask for your help to save our four legged best friend and hope you can help contribute in even a small way.
