***Important update***

Thank you so much for your continued support and love. On February 15, 2018 at 5:40am Ramsey's brave heart stopped beating. He passed peacefully and looked as handsome as always. He fought his battle with cardiac sarcoma as hard as he could and with as much strength and courage as any one person could give.

This update is to inform you that this campaign will be closed soon & any future support will be going to his son's, Mateus Aguiñaga, education fund in order to fulfill Ramsey's one wish: For Mateus to attend Mater Dei High School, his alma mater.

Ramsey was able to write this campaign story a week before his passing. It means the world to him to be able to see his SONshine graduate MDHS from above.

***End of update 2/18/18***

I am 38 years old and a former law enforcement officer, counselor, sales professional and management consultant. On May 8th, 2017, I Ramsey Aguinaga was rushed to the Corona Regional Medical Center Emergency Room by ambulance.  I was dying.  My heart rate was over 205 bpm. I couldn't breathe. Every time I tried, I would choke on my own blood and water from uncontrollable regurgitation.

For months I thought I had bronchitis or pneumonia, so did the doctors at one particular Hospital. However on the above date, doctors at Corona Regional saved my life. They intubated me, helped me breathe again and after an echocardiogram, discovered a massive object in the left atrium of my heart. That mass turned out to be a tumor with a mitotic rate of 8 out of 10. It was positive for high-grade sarcoma. On May 12th at UC San Diego Health, I had open heart surgery to remove this beastly tumor. Dr. Eugene Golts, my surgeon, commented on how he couldn't believe I lived through the experience of having that tumor in my heart, it was huge and aggressive he said.

Months later I am strong and ahead of schedule in healing from the surgery.  Sadly, the tumor has restaged (grown back) in the exact area it was resected from.  This means that if chemothrepy and or as last resort, heart transplantation, doesn't work, I will endure the same life threatening conditions I did on May 8th, 2017. In other words, I will die.

Your donations here will help me not only survive and beat this monster but push forward the foundation I am starting. I'm calling it "LIFE versus Sarcoma." My primary goal, the very purpose of this Foundation is to raise awareness on such a rare and deadly disease. I pledge to you to provide you with updates regularly. I also will utilize my talents and recruitment skills, to find and designate the finest people to continue this cause. I have resolved and committed to surviving. Cancer picked a fight with one tough person.

I am proud of all my accomplishments. I still and forever bleed BLUE. I also bleed SCARLET AND GREY from my Mater Dei high school and Santa Ana College days, as a football player. I have my faith in God, Christ is my savior. I have my son Mateus to inspire me. Most of all, I have YOU! My wonderful friends, family and supporters.

I will survive! I will live!

Thank you.
