Carrying out my lil' bro's wishes
Our family and several friends have provided support to keep his household functioning, while he painstakingly seeks Medicaid approval.
The cancer is aggressive; with an 8%, 5-year survival rate. The treatment doctor’s are suggesting is called IL2, http://www.cancerguide.org/rcc_il2.html
If he responds well to this treatment it could extend his life by 10 years. However, this treatment is only offered in a few areas, the closest place to us is in Maryland at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Medicaid has yet to approve him for out of state treatment and he only has a 2-week window to receive treatment according to his oncologist due to the stage and aggressive nature of the cancer. The medical center will not schedule his treatment until he can finance it as 1 session will cost $100,000.00 dollars (Doctors say he will need 2 treatments).
Please help us raise as much money as we can as soon as possible so that he can undergo this very expensive treatment to hopefully extend our time with him.
We believe since he is young and strong he will prevail if he can get the treatment. We would like to believe it was fate that he fell and cracked his ribs so that he could have a fighting chance to beat this cancer. Please help us to give this amazing force in our lives a fighting chance! With your contributions I am hopeful my brother will get to see his two loving daughters graduate from middle and highschool and continue to be an amazing gift, son, brother, father, uncle, partner, friend, musician, artist and light in our lives!
A memorial will be held to celebrate his life, in true Troy style, at his home next Friday the 16th beginning at 6:00pm. Following a brief ceremony in which all will be invited to share memories and music, we will have a bonfire to revel in the love he so freely gave and will continue to give through all time and space. Just as Troy would have offered, feel free to bring a tent and stay the night. Our gratitude to each of you; your endless love and support will forever be treasured.
At Troy's request I plan to place the remaining funds, and any additional contributions into a college fund to support Troy’s precious daughters, Illiana and Carmen, in their educational pursuits. Please continue to share his story and the fund with whomever you feel would like to support his girls' education.
We sincerely hope to see you all next Friday evening to celebrate Troy's life and say goodbye the way he would want with beautiful mountains, beautiful people and beautiful music. Bring your memories, instruments, tents and love!
With love and gratitude,
Kris and family
Thank you all for your love and support.
Though his traditional Western doctors have suggested pain management and hospice care, your support has enabled him to see a wonderful Naturopath who has already helped him with his diet and eliminated all the inflammation in his swollen limbs. He finally feels like he is in control of his treatment...and none of this would have happened without your support.
Troy has suffered a minor set back and is currently at UVA Transitional Care Hospital (Hospice floor) after a fall a few days ago that brought about no feeling in his left arm and leg. He is slowly regaining mobility and working to walk on his own.
We are hopeful he will be home soon and can resume his treatment with his Naturopath.
Please hold him in the light in your heart.
Troy is turning 41 this coming Sunday! So glad to have him here with us bringing light and love into our lives. Please send him love and wishes of good health if possible...it will keep surely uplift him.
Kristin and family: So sorry for your loss, life is not always fair but still we love and hope for things to work out. Resiliance and perseverance are in our nature so be kind when you are feeling most challenged and surely you'll rise above whatever comes knocking ♥
This is heartbreaking, my sincere condolences to Kristen and the family.
