Galveston I.S.D. Police Department Officer Christopher P. Guerra suffered a massive stroke in the line of duty on October 11th, 2016, while in his office at Galveston’s Central/Weis Middle School .
After 2 days at Galveston’s U.T.M.B., Officer Guerra was Life Flighted to Memorial Hermann’s Stroke Unit in the Texas Medical Center.
Officer Guerra is a 10 year veteran of the Galveston Independent School District’s Police Department . Perviously of La Marque I.S.D. Police Department, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Department, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Officer Guerra has a wife, Ramona, and they were recently granted custody of 2 grand children. Hayden 5-years-old, and 1-year-old Ava. Officer Guerra is the father to 5 children.
As a life-long resident of Galveston, Texas and a graduate of Ball High School, he’s been a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. For the past twenty years Officer Guerra has dedicated his life to law enforcement, and the community he so loves.
Officer Guerra’ stroke set off a series of detrimental health events, including multiple heart attacks, swelling of the brain, and blood clotting. Officer Guerra has been left paralyzed on the right side of his body, unable to communicate, or comprehend.
His wife has been at his side from the start, and with the assistance of the dedicated team of Memorial Hermann, she understands their road to recovery will be long.
Any help that could be provided financially to Officer Guerra and his family durning these challenging times would be a blessing. It will allow his wife to stay by his side. All proceeds go directly to Ramona, his wife and adopted grandchildren, Hayden, and Ava.
Officer Guerra is a fighter. He’s one hell of a police officer. We hope to see him in uniform once again.
