Will cost apx. $18,000 and we can't do this alone. Help us help those people in need. Everyone deserves a chance to get a job and make their lives better.
The population of Idaho is quickly reaching 2 million, with nearly 35,000 people who are unemployed, and over 150, 000 people who are below the poverty level. Plus, there are another 2,000 adults in the Treasure Valley whom are homeless on any given night of the week.
The H.E.L.P.S. mission is to give these people the competitive edge that is essential to any individual seeking employment in today’s job market. The H.E.L.P.S. Mobile Resource R/V outreach project will be the first of its kind in the Treasure Valley area that will travel directly to this segment of the population, and to places where these people congregate to give them a better chance of finding a job.
H.E.L.P.S. Mobile Resource R/V outreach project for which we are requesting funds will make a difference in the lives of these people by providing access to technology, computers and personal assistance, therefore empowering them to build a better life for themselves and their families. We will provide the supportive services that will encourage and educate these people in areas of resume development, local job market research, job application assistance, career counseling and interview preparations.
Our staff and volunteers will visit senior centers, veteran centers, churches, soup kitchens, under freeway overpasses, on city streets, in parks, near shelters and encampments. To provide people with complimentary access to the Internet, laptops, printers, cell phones and on-site help to assist these individuals with their job search activities.
Currently, H.E.L.P.S. serves the Treasure Valley area through a variety of community projects with excellent support and feedback from the public. Our most recent programs include the bi-monthly distribution of Care packages to the homeless, stocked with essential survival supplies like; socks, hats, jackets and blankets, along with food, health and hygiene necessities.
To date, the H.E.L.P.S. staff has personally assisted hundreds of people with resume development, application assistance and interview preparation. Additionally, to support and strengthen the community we’ve established an online resource center where anyone can find the local resources they need with just a click of a mouse.
