Help Shelby Beat Cancer

On Oct 18th, Shelby the huksy had sugery to remove a lump near the base of her tail.  The lump was sent out to find out what it was.  The total cost of that surgery was $421.56

On Oct 23rd, we go our diganosis back.  The lump was a Malignant Pilomatrixoma tumor.  This tumor had local tissue invasion, chronic inflammation and recative fibrosis. The Tumor was cystic and partially ruptured and also had mild multifocal lymphoplasmacytic and neutrophilic inflammation. 

Bascially this is a uncommon type of tumor that starts in a hair bulb.  This type of tumor can metastasize to the lungs, bone, lymph nodes, or other places.  As of today, we do not know if any of this has happened.  

So what does all of this mean?  Well as of writing this, Shelby is going in for a second surgery to remove two more small lumps, one on her face, and one near her rib cage.  We will also be sending those lumps out for testing as well.  Once those resutls come back, we will most likley be going down to see an Oncologist to figure out our next course of action. 

Shelby is only 10 years old, she just turned 10 in August, and we are not ready to let her go anytime soon, so we will fight as long as she is willing.  

Our community has been amazing whenever we have needed help.  As always, a portion of the donations to this fun, WILL be donated to other animals in need as well.  We feel that we must pay it forward whenever we can.  There are so many of you kind enough to help us out, that it wouldn't be right if we didn't pay it forward.

P.S. I know some people feel more comfortable donating directly to the Veterinary Office.  Currently Shelby is still being seen by Dr. Ryan at Switzer Veterinary Clinic.  If we do end up at an Onocologist, I will get that information as well.

Both of the above bills are currently paid in full, as I had enough in my emergency Vet Visits savings account to pay for both of them.  So we are trying to put money back into the emergency vet account and plan for what is to come.  Traveling downstate, having to pay for hotels. . and whatever other tests we may end up having to do. . .
