The Story
I saw the above videos about this young girl Jamie, who is in desperate need of a liver donor. As I watched I noticed that I matched all of the required criteria in order to be considered a reasonable donor. After calling UPMC pittsburgh and talking to the transplant team I was invited to come to UPMC and undergo testing. As of today 4-29-15 I am the only matching donor they have interviewed and am awaiting a decision as to when the transplant will be.
Why Am I here?
Im reaching out to anyone and everyone who as ever wanted to help someone in need. I am doing something I had never dreamed of doing in order to give young Jamie the chance at a normal life she deserves. In the process I will be missing 3-4 months of work. Unfortunately, my short term disability does not cover this kind of occurance. I will need help 24x7 for the first 1-2 weeks after the operation just getting out of bed and doing my normal daily functions.
Where Will Donations go?
I and hoping to raise the help needed to pay for incurred medical costs not covered by insurance and or Jamies Insurance. This Includes follow up visits ( I will need regular bloodwork and exams for the next yr of my life), prescriptions medications, transportations expenses as I will not be able to drive, and general living expenses (mortgage, utilities, etc.)
About me
My name is David A Denovchek, and I live in Niles Ohio. I was raised to do what is right and believe in the goodness of people. I have always been of the mentality that if someone needs something more than myself they are welcome to it. Right now a young girl needs a part of me I can hopefully do without. That being 20% of the left lobe of my Liver. I Work as Vet Tech at a local clinic and absolutely love animals and, even moreso, love people.
I know that I am asking alot of what may very well be people I have never met and may never meet, but I can only hope that people will see the good in what I am doing and find it in themselves to help my cause. I will do my best to post about my progress and wheres donations are being used to help me!
