Santa Clara: Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in 3 vehicle crash
SANTA CLARA -- A woman suffered life-threatening injuries early Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle crash on Montague Expressway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman was driving a Nissan Altima west on Montague Expressway near De La Cruz Boulevard just before 5:30 a.m. when she was read-ended by a Nissan Sentra making a lane change, according to CHP Officer Ross Lee. The woman lost control of her vehicle, spun out and ended up in the eastbound lanes of traffic, where she was hit by a BMW.
She suffered major injuries and was rushed to a hospital, Lee said. The CHP did not have an update on the woman's condition late Tuesday morning.
Eastbound Montague at De La Cruz Boulevard was shut down for about two hours following the crash.
The male driver of the BMW was taken to the hospital with complaints of pain, Lee said.
The driver of the vehicle that made the lane change was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
