Hello everyone,
thanks for reading my story, and if after reading it you want to help me, I would be very grateful. My name is Ignacio Andrade Zimmermann, all my friends and my family know me as Nacho, as from now you are my friend, so please call me Nacho.
I am Colombian, but I live in Canada with my parents and my brother; I also want to tell you that I am an athlete, I am usually a sprinter, I run 100, 200 and 400 meters, I am actually very fast, but at this moment I had to make a pause in my athletic career. I was diagnosed with Burkitt leukemia, a very aggressive cancer that has me running the race of my life right now.
My treatment will last approximately nine months in which I will have to undergo different medical practices among which, of course, there is chemotherapy; despite knowing that it is not easy, I am willing to run with decision, hand in hand with God and my family, getting to the finish line safe and sound.
I want to ask for your help because I am convinced of my deep desire to live, I want to recover completely because I want to be a full athlete again. At this moment I cannot walk, the disease is at a point where I cannot sit on the edge of my bed, but please, I ask you not to feel sorry for me, there is nothing to regret, I am alive and while there is life, there is hope, I just want your solidarity to heal and be able to run again.
I need to raise funds for this purpose, my recovery, a different diet and special care and in passing this test, I must recover my mobility, my muscles, my life. That's why I'm coming to you to ask for your help.
Many of you may think that cancer is a disease, but my family and I have assumed it as a blessing. Through cancer, God has taught me what true love is, it has allowed us all to learn to value small things more and to love live in general. Today I miss running, even just walking, but I know that with faith, a lot of prayers and your help I will complete my recovery fully and will be back on the tracks very soon.
I am an athlete who had to slow in speed; now I´m running an endurance race and I only ask you to join me for the extra mile. Please help me in any capacity you can, just by sharing my story you´ll make a huge difference in this great race I´m running.
