Mod Life Collection Needs Your Help

Donation protected

Our faith and determination has been tested.  Being do-it-yourself people, it's been a struggle to make the decision to reach out for help but the reality is, this is where we are right now in our journey.  In a nutshell, we are entreprenuers who are committed to producing US-made furniture.  Robert Petril and Kiersten Parsons are both self-taught furniture designers and carpenters who partnered two and a half years ago and launched Mod Life Collection .

Here's our story:

We are the epitome of what it means to sacrifice everything for the greater good.  Our story—which includes homelessness, sleeping in stores and cars, repossessions, working odd jobs like painting houses and delivering pizza, working various carpentry gigs, and going into deep personal debt—is not unique, but it is very real.

Our first attempt to manufacture our designs in the North Carolina led to financial devastation, after selling to retailers all over the country only to have production lead times go from six to eight weeks…to 33 weeks.  Essentially, we weren't paid, we lost clients, and experienced a failed start—despite critical and industry acclaim for our products and effort.

We’ve slowly started over again by reaching out to multiple factories in the U.S., since we are determined to not take the easy road and look for overseas investors and factories.  To date, we feel we have found several factories who care about the same things we care about. They use reclaimed woods, non-toxic stains, recycled upholstery fills, and made-in-USA materials for cores, casings, and webbings whenever possible. And they make and ship product within 6 weeks of order.

With that said, we're still struggling to make ends meet and recover from the past.

We need your help moving Mod Life forward.  We are determined to never quit.  We know what we bring to the market is respected worldwide, but unlike most furniture companies, we did it without funding.  We've experienced mountain-high roadblocks that have been outside of our control.

Your generosity will help us:

1. Photograph our furniture, a prerequisite for retailing across all channels.  In the face of major retailers expressing great interest in our line, we haven't been able to respond due to the lack of critical tools it takes—like photography and materials—to secure these placements.

2. Purchase and supply swatch racks for clients.  Without swatch racks,  it's really hard to sell retailers and interior designers.

3. Grow our business through advertising, marketing, and simply traveling to retailers and clients.

4. Reconcile debt incurred through the manufacturing melt down we endured.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for considering helping us.  We believe in ourselves, our determination, and our designs.  And every dollar means the world to us.  We take nothing for granted.

Each and every donor will not only be recognized, but will be paid back when the company attains the ability to do so.
